I have a 2008 ZO6 that I bought new. It now has 90,000 miles on it.
Lately I have noticed a hesitation when accelerating medium to hard.
At first I thought it might be plugs or wires. No check engine light, no codes, nothing when driving with a monitor hooked up. I changed the plugs and wires anyway and the engine runs really good but I still notice this hesitation on acceleration.
It doesn't always do it and it isn't always at the same rpm or throttle position. I suspect that maybe the clutch is wearing out. Is there a way I can check the clutch condition without pulling the whole thing out ?
And hesitation is not really a symptom of a clutch going south. Slipping is that symptom. So unless you hear/feel the engine rpm go up when this hesitation happens, it's not the clutch.
I took a ride this morning and tried your suggestion.
No slippage. I guess it must be something else.
I'll keep looking.
Thanks for your suggestion.
Glad to hear it didn't slip for you. It isn't a guaranteed clutch is good/bad test but it will normally tell you if one is definitely bad. I always get very nervous before running that test
I think you should do some data logging to see what's going on with the hesitation. Could be something as simple as a dirty throttle body sticking.
