Anyone using Redline shockproof light in the rear end? I have an ECS Spool kit to turn a stock diff to a spool and was wondering if this would be ok to use?
At least you don't have to worry about the friction modifier for the clutches then!
Why do you want to use the lightweight oil? I doubt you would see any verifiable gains, in ET, but it would be good to know if there are any. If it's a track only car, it will probably be fine. If you're going to use it on the street, maybe not so much so. But, then again, you're putting a spool in there, so that would probably mean you don't intend to drive it around on the street every day?
I've used the Redline Lightweight Shockproof before, but only in the lower unit of a Mercury 2.5 Drag outboard setup, and never had a failure, and I used to turn that thing to 10,200 rpm in the quarter. But that was on the back of a super lightweight <500lb Jaguar drag hull, so that was a whole different deal. Everyone I knew back then was running that in their lower units and some swore they picked up 100-200rpm, but I never verified that, to be honest.
NOPE no modifier. I was thinking the lightweight because it's film thickness is 75W-140 which I thought was what factory was. I do drive on the street but not a ton pretty much to and from the track. I have the diff off right now for trans rebuild. Just have to buy fluid anyways figured I would get some good stuff.
