Symptoms of Water Pump Failure?
First couple of drives for my 2006 this year has the coolant temp rising well over 220 after only 10 minutes of operation and in ambient temps of 50 or so.
The cooling fan is operational and stays on for a minute or so after shutting her down (which it never has done in the past).
I am thinking thermostat because there are no leaks anywhere, but then started wondering if the water pump can fail without any signs of leaking.
Anyone have any insight into WP failures and what the symptoms are other than it leaking?
Or other causes of overheating??
Thanks

From past experiences I'd say you'll know pretty quick of your water pump is failing. Other than water leaking, maybe the pump pulley wobbling, noisey. If any of that's going on the water pump will go downhill fast.

It's basically a bearing, impeller and a seal. If one of them fails, you'll know it
I'd change thermostat first

Have you drain the coolant lately, you could have air in the system causing hot pockets.
To burp it the easy way remove like 3 quarts of coolant then remove the rear steam pipe plugs in back of the heads and fill till starts to dribble replace the steam pipe plugs and top off the system.
