Default Rear main seal leak

If my rear main seal is leaking on a c6z can it cause any harm to the vehicle. Could it leak into the clutch area? Dont really want to fix it. Its a small leak, small as in 1000 miles and it really hasnt changed the oil level at all but i notice it in the garage.

Sorry to hear that! I would make sure I have a good crankcase pressure relief system i.e might mouse catch can, oil cap breather, etc. I dont think the oil will get on the clutch as long as is not squirting out. A slight seepage wont do any damage and I know what a pita is to remove the drivetrain on these cars.

The rear main seal are very good compared to the old ford 5.0s.

Not sure about clutch contamination, I would think not though.

Oddly I was told I had the same leak. The tech showed it to me and it was very light.

A year later the area was dry with no signs of oil or dirt.

Kinda made me wonder about the initial diagnoses.

Reputable dealership too.

There looks to be a lot of rear cover leaks even on none boosted cars. LS motor based cars/trucks.

May and may not be the rear main seal imo it ain't broke yet so just check oil level regularly and enjoy the great ride.

It's actually getting taken care of right now. Real pita. The engineering behind half of it has me scratching my head.
