Default Oil cooler for a centrifugal setup/Oil temp question

2008 M6, non Z51 car.

Oil gets pretty warm after a couple pulls. Takes 10-15 minutes to bring temps back down to 226 or so. I shut it down around 241 ish.

Oil is Motul 8100. Gonna use the 100V next time for safety. But for now, I wanna find a quality oil cooler for the car! 241-250 comes quick! That's scary!

Why don't you install the setrab oil cooler that you listed for sale to keep
It cool?

Separate engine oil cooler getting fresh air through fog light opening should get it way down. Unreal had great results on his.

Also, where are you getting engine oil temp from? I'm not sure non Z51 and higher cars even have an oil temp sensor. Lower models use a "calculated oil temp" instead of an actual sensor.

May not apply to 2008+ but I know it does to LS2 cars. May want to do some research just to be sure what you're seeing is a real value.

The setrab won't fit since I have a front mount.

The oil temp is from a reading on my dash. I'll have to check it out and see if that's true or not with the 2008 Non Z cars.

What kind of space do you have for a cooler? Maybe you can mount one in the brake duct area.

Sorry I missed this.

I don't have much room. That's why I think I need that Doug Rippie one. I just hope it brings the oil temps down enough to make it worthwhile. 25 degrees would do just fine I think. Since most pulls are only short bursts anyway. The cool down time is also what I really want. It takes like 10 minutes to go from 245-248 back down to 226.

That shouldn't be too difficult to achieve. What is the Doug Rippie one? Is it a water to oil cooler?

Can you fit the factory oil cooler?

My improved t-stat setup with B&M cooler on a modded bumper behind fog light made a huge difference.

I know the thread exists but where is the thread with all the details on the realcanuk and your bumper mounted B&M cooler projects? I'm looking to consider that or a similar path when I do my YSI upgrade. And what do you mean by improved t-stat setup?

I'm not an expert on this by any means, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. From what I've read, a full size dewitts (lowered) along with an external oil cooler is preferable. I have a dewitts with an oil cooler inside and my oil temps still get decently high. I'm going to work on funneling air better to the radiator, along with possibly replacing my stock single fan with a SPAL dual fan setup since the cooler is inside the radiator.

Looking at the picture of Unreal's setup, I'm a big fan.
