Default Heat melting wiring to starter

Has anyone had any issues with heat from exhaust header or exhaust pipe damaging starter and wiring? 2013 427 convertible. Had to replace starter
And repair wiring.

Yes, many users have experienced this, especially with headers. There are likely 30+ threads I would guess.

I wrapped my headers and the wires near them for heat protection

Also a loose connection at the starter solenoid can cause the wiring to burn up. The cable from the alternator outout goes to the starter solenoid first, then to the fuse block. If the connection is loose there, it can overheat the wiring and melt the starter solenoid plastic.

My service chsrgin system light is on probably do to the solenoid or just a bad starter. Inhale my headers wrapped and a starter shield. Haven't had time to get under the car yet.

Yep. This is why I bought a 1/0 gauge wire to connect the alternator directly to the fuse block and bypass that starter connection.
