Finally raced a GTR!
Went to a no prep test and tune last night and had a run in with a gtr. He beat me on the tree (it's been awhile since I've gone to the track). I beat his et by .6 and mph by 1. (11.8@120 was my pass) not bad for having a torque converter that decided it didn't want to live anymore and was slipping the whole way down the track. The da when i check it about 30 min before the race was 6630.

08 base a6 stock gears with TF255 heads, cmc-20 cam, yank 3200 (that is toasted), kooks long tubes, vararam intake, ported ls3 intake manifold, npp mufflers.
This was the closest race I've ever had.

GTRs are all over the place depending on year. Could be a high 11 second factory car, or a 10 second factory car. The early ones were pretty slow, and the new ones are pretty crazy fast.

Great job beating that GTR!

YEA! so you lost to car that's heavier, and the point of your post was? a TQ converter has no moving parts it's an "oil pump" how does it slip or burn out? I'm a manual guy so I'm very interested in the answer.

So the point of this post is I raced a gtr. Like i said I've wanted to run one for awhile and I finally did. Did I win no. Does my car cost 100k no. No reason to be a dick.

Why did the Yank go bad on you ,I was told that the 3,200 and the 3,600 were the best . I like the fact that they act like a normal converter till you out your foot into it so I was thinking about getting that converter

I am a manual guy I don't need to do a search on a converter I'm also a millwright and no it's not more than a pump it creates the hydraulic pressure necessary to run a auto and that's all it does,

and BTW ********, I've seen other people say a lot worse things to people in their posts then I have, how come your not jumping all over them, I could drive over to Ga and we could talk about it, I'm in Alabama. you used to have your location in your nameplate before you got chicken and hid it.

It was a great converter until it had a date with some nitrous. I got greedy with my shot and it killed the converter. I'm getting another yank just a tighter one to handle the spray.

Actually it is not a pump. It's a fluid coupler that uses hydrostatics to transmit the power from the impeller( driver or engine side) to the turbine (driven side). By changing the angles of the impeller you change the rpm in which it applies the coupling to the turbine through the stator allowing you to let the engine to get higher engine rpm and hence farther up torque curve.(stall speed). Finally the stator can be modified to give a torque multiplication factor.
usually when they blow the impeller blades get bent or mangled and the don't couple properly.
