-Video added- Transmission THUMPS and pops gear out?
2010 C6 corvette 6.2L 6 speed manual
Hey all im battling a gremlin that started after a hard launch i had yesterday
Third gear started to pop out of gear, i noticed that if i slowly raise the speed in 3rd gear it does not pop out, but if i accelerate suddenly, it will then "thump" under the shifter and 3rd gear pops into neutral.
It only happens in 3rd gear so i am unsure of what it could be.
I checked the transmission mounts today and they dont appear to be damaged although i can only see one side without taking them off. Could the mounts cause this? or what else can i check?
I recently had the transmission syncros replaced along with 5th gear so i doubt its a synchro issue.

my first thoughts were the mounts.....................
think it may be worth the time and effort to check them thoroughly out...............

I recently replaced my trans mounts because I was getting a clunk in the rear end as the clutch would engage. It never popped out of gear though. Anyway, the mounts I pulled out looked fine, but the clunk was completely eliminated with the new mounts.
So, I can't say for sure that mounts are your problem. But just because they look fine, doesn't mean they haven't been compromised internally.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Well i found a set of mounts for 120 at oreileys, i guess it wont hurt to swap them. Sure hope its just the mounts and not the tranny.
Is there anyway to tell if they are bad outside of the car? i was looking for any obvious cracks

You will need to rebuild your trans. You could call Jeremy at RPM transmissions to confirm or get better advice and pricing but there is no magic fix for this.
The engagement teeth in 3rd gear and the 3rd gear syncro are likely worn to the point that is doesn't hold itself in gear anymore.
