Default Updated With Video 2006 No Mods Oil Pressure Warning This Morning

I don't daily drive this car however this morning running some errands I got a low oil pressure warning. I have an extended warranty on this car so I will be taking it somewhere to have something done. It almost sounds like the engine is knocking or at least when I heard one doing that years ago it sounded like the noise mine is making. I'll post some sound up here in the next little bit. Just wondering where should I take it in Atlanta. I live on the southside of Atlanta (Fayetteville, Peachtree City) and would prefer not having to deal with a long drive to the north side but if necessary I'll do it any suggestions on Southside Corvette specialist first then northside shops.

Just talked to Vengeance and they said they don't do anything like that.. they only do high performance builds.

I hope I am wrong but it sounds like a spun main bearing and the oil pressure is acting just the same as my Olds 442 engine that spun a main bearing.

Do you know what work was done to the car?

Have it flat-bedded to a reputable repair shop that specializes in Corvettes and/or LS motors. Not a Stealership and Good Luck!!!

Check the harmonic damper for wobble Oil press seems normal as it claims with rpms engine has high miles so a new oil pump will help idle pressure also a new timing chain may be due.

It doesn't sound like a rod bearing to me.

Where is Jim Ellis? I've heard good things about them in the past (however their best tech, David Fulcher left and's gone to Canton). What kind of warranty do you have---aftermarket, GMPP, GMEPP, etc.?

Tow it, don't drive it. There is an o-ring that can crumble on the pick up tube allowing the system to entrain air and lose prime. Fairly extensive labor though. Good time to upgrade the oil pump, harmonic balancer and think about doing a cam swap.

Found a mechanic that comes highly recommend from some folks that do suspension setups for road racing and other track related stuff. This guy does race prep and track support so I am pretty comfortable having the car go to him. Here is what he said from the video.

The lifters are noisey, and there is an alternating noise that could be a spinning rod bearing, if it is what I think, rod bearing won't fix the problem, it is possible that it has scorched the crankshaft and damaged the connecting to bearing, I would recommend bringing the car to the shop, the oil pump raises pressure when on throttle but it goes critically low at idle and then the lifters get noisey.

OK so the problem is the camshaft bearing went bad and got metal filings throughout the entire engine so the engine is damaged. Metal shavings in the oil filter as well.

So now I'm dealing with the warranty company budget for engine replacement. The shop will go any direction I want to go with the budget toward the engine. I think I may play with this engine a little bit.

I guess its time to start a new thread to get feedback on the directions I should go and how much each direction will cost I appreciate any input from you guys right now in this thread.

I think you would be looking at a LS3, as I do not believe you'll find any new complete LS2's.
