Default MGW Shifter - Eliminate Grinding?

I've got an MZ6 '08. Occasionally I get a bit of a grind between shifts. Nothing serious. Not at the same speeds and not in the same gears. Will an MGW shifter and bottom end help?

If anything it's going to make it worse....

You have a problem elsewhere. My suggestion is that first you make sure the clutch is completely disengaging. Jack up the car, put it in 1st gear Andy start the genie with the clutch in and rev the car up to 4-5k. If the tires move you have a hydraulics or clutch issue.

If that checks out ok try a fluid change. If that doesn't work the trans needs a rebuild

O.k., I'll concentrate on clutch engagement.

It's true it will make it worse. I have experienced this. My tranny is the TR-6060 6-speed. My grind is only in 2nd gear. I have since found it's 2 ways around it with mine. Let the tranny warm up before you start shifting fast and/or if you just crank it up and go then which ever gear you change to you have to granny shift it. Basically the gears that are grinding with your shift it very very slow until warmed up. When I put the MGW in it made it very very very more pronounced. But whenever I do a clutch further down the road I'll get the issue resolved.

If it's in more than 1 gear it most likely is a hydraulic issue. However if it's only in 1 gear or specifically in 2nd gear then it's probably the trans.

early 6060's were known for a synchro problem with 2nd gear. Later on they revised the synchro material to fix the issue but lots got warranty rebuilds because of the 2nd gear grind

Cheap thing to try first...I highly recommend Amsoil torque drive. Just please, no royal purple.

Also cheap/free...You need to inspect your shift linkage (removing the center console) and possibly tighten or realign some things in there. Could even be shifter housing is loose where it bolts to the torque tube. Things can and do come loose over time. How many miles on the car?

i agree with this! Change your trans fluid with Amsoil TD. It helped me out so much. Got rid of what little grind I was having before.
