Drive Shaft removal
My 2007 C6 was damaged in a wreck in the back quarter panel. I have some damage to the rear axle. If I remove the driveshaft can I still start my engine without any problems? I have people wanting the engine but want to see it start. Is there a fuel shut off switch in an accident? I put it in neutral and it sounds like the driveshaft is still turning. I hear a thumping sound underneath

Because it would be. Tranny is in back, and in nuetral DS still spins.

Assuming it's an A6 (your profile is outdated) IIRC you can go through the front bellhousing inspection hole and remove/loosen a large torx screw that allows the engine to rotate without turning the driveshaft. It's been 7 years since I had it out, and all I have is an iffy memory.
Maybe someone has a pic of that.
