Methanol Injection vs. Octane Boosters vs. E85
Not sure if this is an extremely fair comparison of E85 vs. Meth inj., but it definitely shows meth to be a HUGE advantage over 93, boost juice, and octane boosters.
Can’t imagine how much difference you would get going from Cali 91/junk gas & adding straight meth. My car has always been tuned for methanol, so maybe that’s why everyone has questioned the power I was making on ported 243’s and a small cam. Btw - LEAVINU has me beat hands down with similar setup on his LS2.
Please draw your own conclusions and keep this thread civil. Always up for learning, and respect everyone’s thoughts and opinions.

Bone stock tune LS3 will run it best just 91 octane pump gas, while LS2, LS7, and LS9 will run it best on 93 octane pump gas. A higher octane rated fuel, without retuning for the fuel, will not gain you any more HP
If getting in to E85, since it has water in it, will lower the IAT's, and the water expanding during ignition will give a touch more horsepower, but your talking about having to add a flex fuel sensor in, and turning on and tuning in the flex fuel tables in the ECM. Also, your going to burn 30% more of E85 that you would with standard gas per mile.
If we are talking moded car, then depending the mod's, may run better with a higher octane fuels isntead.
So where a meth kit shines, is when you not under boost, and your just running pump gas to get the best mileage per gallon, and at the cheapest cost for fuel for just cruising. When you get into boost, then the meth kicks in to give you the higher octane and water to keep the IAT down, and steam on the drown stroke to increase power as well. Meth mix only cost about $6 a gallon to make, and on a street car, gallon of Meth will last you weeks.
E85 may give you a touch more power, but your burning 30% more of it per mile even just cruising around.
As for race fuel, it too costly to run on the street for just cruising around to start with.
And if your looking for real power, then nitromethane mix instead.
