Ok so I checked that ground not even a spot of rust, was super tight too. I pulled each socket out replaced every bulb, was observing the female pins leading into connector some of them looked off.

I used a tiny tiny screw driver to pop them up so they were all even. So far all tail lights work.

i live in a very humid area and I already once again have corrosion starting which I cleaned.

Can i just cake everything wih die electric grease

Ok thanks;
and the driver side inner tail light if i connect it completely it won't turn on at night time; blinks fine, brakes fine... if i pull the connector to its sweet spot it will stay lit. Tomorrow I'll have to check that one real good again..

July 20th the car goes in to have the tail light harness redone so it’s completely condensation proof, literally ever since I messed up by not plugging in eagle eyes properly which is all my fault has caused this.

i did my best to fix as much as I could so far everything is working fine I’d just rather have professionals do it. Plan on selling car after though. Was a fun experience regardless.

22k offer for trade in sound pretty fair for my car?

1. Battery, many of the advance/AZ batteries for c6 have a tiny vent that is made for C6Z, this vent can leak directly
onto conns. next to battery and then down to pcm.

2. Same as above but water from wash/rain can leak on conns.

3. I’d hardwire the lailight harness to body harness keeping the body plug intact. Solder or use the 3m taps.

4. Front radiator cradle, is ‘bumped’ a bit? This could push the EBCM conn. into an unhappy place.

5. Ever try to see if an A6 car will upshift with light brake pedal (brake lights on)??

6. Back to the blower motor, why is there corrosion? There’s one big udder that drains the cowl on passenger side.
unless the car has sub 5k and a garage dweller, it may be plugged. You can pull the aft panel in pass front wheel well in 10 minutes

6a. Are all E38 pcms mounted up high like c6Z’s?? The 05’s are about 6 inches off the ground. While checking the cowl drain you can take a look at the PCM.

Electrical parts hate water, dirt/debris near or on wiring/connectors love water, makes for fun issues to replicate

All the best.

Got car back from the shop, everything is working and cleaned. Got caught in a scattered storm yesterday driving home. Was almost home and left turn signal starts blinking really fast. I already knew. Today I pulled the tail light sockets out one bulb would not come out and stank really bad.

finally got it out and here it is

They told me this could be caused from a loose connection in the bulb...???

its caused by the bulb being too hot and melting its housing. Did you put grease in the connection housing? May have contributed to the failure.

I did notice that, but after reading the entire thread with the anticipation of finding out what the fix was, it was frustrating. Maybe he will respond.

Thank you Derek. Hard to understand how seemingly unrelated stuff causes this ****...
