Default Extremely tight Z06 rear sway bar bushings?

I ordered up C6 Z06 rear sway bar 20777536 and bushings 15262795 and am a bit concerned about the size of the bushings.

The sway bar is 28mm OD but the bushings are 26mm ID, with how stiff the bushings are I'm concerned once they're tightened down they'll effectively lock the sway bar in place. I've read the threads about using grease or teflon tape inside the bushings to keep them lubed, but can't imagine that would be enough to allow movement.

Can anybody who has done the install themselves, or potentially is a vendor with the parts on hand, verify the correct diameters and if the tightness is expected?

The main reason I'm concerned is the sway bar bushings didn't have a part number on them when delivered, so I'm not confident they're the correct ones - but don't want to force the conversation with the supplier until I get some more info from the forum.

I have a 28mm OD rear sway bar and they gave me the 26mm ID bushings part number 15262795. I have the same concern. Feeling they may be the wrong bushings too.

Looks like the Z06 is the FE4 Bushing 15262795
Z51-FE3 Bushing 15241135
F55 FE2 Bushing 10436136

Love to know we have the right bushings. Seem too tight/small ID

I updated my other thread with the correct part numbers, the parts catalog most of the online vendors are using is incorrect. I ended up working with the local dealer to get the right parts ordered.

The front sway bar and bushings are the same between Z51 and Z06
- C6 Z51/Z06 Front sway bar - 25919502
- C6 Z51/Z06 Front sway bar bushings - 10387838

For the rear the correct part numbers are
- C6 Z51 rear sway bar - 10339124
- C6 Z51 rear sway bar bushings - 15262795
- C6 Z06 rear sway bar - 20777536
- C6 Z06 rear sway bar bushings - 22784721

Well, I bought both bushings for the rear.
15262795 and 22784721
The 795 (26mm ID) "seemed" too tight and 721(28.5mm ID) was too loose.
My VIN for the suspension is G1YU2DW8C5109940
2012 Grand Sport. Rear sway bar measures 28mm.
Of coarse the dealer said either one should work fine...
Feeling like its better to sandwich the smaller bushing and have is very tight rather than too loose.

Maybe lube it with some silicone grease.

What was your final solution? Thinking of using the 27mm Prothane.

The tight bushings seem to be fine with silicone grease. The larger bushing was a big no go.
Prothane might work great. I didn't want to risk squeaking.

Use the tighter bushing then use washers behind the bushing bracket to stop the binding. On a racecar you want no binding in the suspension.

My problem is that I have the C6 Z06 bar on my C5. Not sure if the bushings are the same (other than inside diameter) and if the C6 part will fit. On the GM web site, they only have a cartoon, not an actual photo of the part.

I may go with a universal bushing set to have more control over the diameter.

Just went out and measured the sway bar, coming up with about 25.5mm. It appears that even though I ordered a Z06 sway bar I ended up with a Z51 sway bar. It appears I need the 15262795 bushing.

If you aren't running 335 wide tires, the Z51 sway bar is likely the better choice any way.

I put the Z51 bar/bushings on my C5 Z06 with stock sized tires and now it feels about right. We put the C6 Z06 bar/bushings on my buddies C5 Z06 running stock sized tires and he says it feels like a bit too much bar and he's having to adjust his driving accordingly.

It'll be a couple bucks more than ordering online, but it'll be faster to order from your local dealer and just in case they're the wrong ones somehow you can still return them.

Thanks, is that the correct part number? Have you had success with that bushing? It’s listed as 26mm and the bar is slightly smaller.

Yes, those part number are what we installed on my car.

- C6 Z51 rear sway bar - 10339124
- C6 Z51 rear sway bar bushings - 15262795

When you tighten the brackets to spec they take up that tiny bit (0.5mm) of play between the bar and bushing.
