Great running car, however 600 rwhp for the 5.7L seems a bit optimistic.

A little seat of the pants update, it feels like it makes another 30+hp. Screams to 7k no problem now, time for some real valve gear..

Will post up a new dyno sheet of the improvements hopefully by Saturday.

Thanks schpenxel, the E40 ecu is very finicky to tune especially for a NW 102 TB.

Lookin' good. Curious to see what it makes.
Hope you get wring it out at the track too.

Since your having so much fun on that heat management any thoughts on wrapping your header as well? Also your engine is beautiful looking, really like that intake mani and valve cover combo. All business.

Thanks Rob

I am as well, hit the dyno yesterday and it honestly tells a funny story. I believe it’s telling the truth of course...but what you feel driving the car vs. the dyno sheet doesn’t match IMHO. And that’s not because I invested 5 weeks into this project, it’s just what I feel.

I’ll post a graph below. I do currently have some known issues, and I’ll go into detail on that a bit as well.

Thank you very much kind sir

The headers I had ceramic coated about 7 years ago, before they ever went on the car. It reduces underhood temps quite a bit. I’ll post a link that goes into quite a bit of detail discussing it, along with the effect on primary size on flow/power.

The header wraps are something, but I think the ceramic coating surpasses the wraps in quite a few areas. The gap between your spark plug wire and the header would be substantially more with ceramic. In my experience the ceramic coating also holds up very well over time, especially if you get it done at a shop where they specialize in aerospace parts

Engine Masters header test:

This test pretty much convinced me that my 1 3/4” primaries are killing my top end.

Before I go into the less than impressive dyno numbers from yesterday..

I first wanted to explain that due to a vacuum leak at the brake booster, this poor girl ran excessively hot on the first drive, and my little cheap AC Delco wires gave up the goose. I’m not sure that this is the power issue here or not, but it’s certainly not helping anything.. Austin is pretty confident that it isn’t. He thinks my intake leaves a lot to be desired in terms of the dyno numbers; I’ll keep working on it. Now actually driving it...that’s a different story, and I’m not saying this just because I put over 5 weeks of “free time" into these mods. You would swear she's making another 30+ Thoroughbred horses up top! It runs HARD into the limiter at 7,100 in second gear. The traction in 1st & 2nd gear has also improved dramatically. When your on the freeway it just LOVES to rev, prior to all the intake mods it did not; drove with that original port matched FAST 102 for over 2 years with the stroker...I believe 3 years when it was just H/C build.

Once I noticed these plug wires on Thursday, I immediately spoke with a great friend of mine who’s a jet engine mechanic and he recommend I look into the Granatelli wires. They seemed very impressive compared to all their competition so I decided to give them a call.

Spoke with guy named Jasper, excellent customer service! Was really impressed with his honesty and product knowledge. He did NOT try to sell me anything I didn’t need. Ordered a standard set of LS wires immediately, and will follow up and get a nice “hi-temp” custom length set; I just do NOT want to be on the side of the road in the mean time. To be honest, Jasper didn’t hardly want to sell them to me because he didn’t want me to over pay buying two sets. I told him "look dude, a hundred bucks and still being able to drive my new toy is the goal." He was like, I get you man.. lol

The other issue that I may or may not be having is the vacuum pump. It sounds ok...but I called the guys at GZ and spoke with I believe...Bill, a very down to earth gentleman. He gave me his honest opinion on when and how to service the pump. Well it is DUE..

These types of vendors are something I personally find very valuable, and is consistent with all the vendors I choose to do business with.
Austin at Paragon Engines for example, he NEVER oversells you something you don’t need, and does phenominal work. Rodney at PRO Meth is the same way, former Marine as well

These guys give me a hand with pricing generally because I’m military, but I honestly don’t expect it. They are just honorable gentlemen who truly appreciate my service. I will post some links to their websites incase you guys want to check them out. LG Motorsports makes some really nice suspension too, their customer service is now very good. If you were ever turned off by them in the past, you may want to give them a second chance. Lou wants the best for his customers, and have stayed a loyal customer because he ALWAYS makes things right. His “super pro” 1 3/4" headers have been on the car since 2011 I believe. On top of that he’s a damn good driver, and for that hes got a ton of real world track experience. On the back of one of our race team shop trucks there was a sticker that said “When you race, you know.” The longer I stayed in road racing, the more truth I found there was in those 5 words

Did I miss your Dyno results?

I also installed heat insulation on the bottom of my intake manifold as well as my intake piping and that combined with a ported intake make a significant difference for me in the pull and power up top.

Both of these runs are without methanol injection and only Klotz Octane Booster:

Really appreciate that! Your setup looks very clean as well, nice work!!

I’m hoping that my power was severly affected by these plug wires. After changing them out today the engine does feel different. Not anything crazy, but it does feel like more overall torque.

Ordering my custom set of wires from Granatelli tomorrow, then will head back up to the dyno

Rob,
I remember you built a pretty extreme LS engine. Do you have any dyno graphs to share, and details about the build?
