C6 steering rack needs replacing. Who has the best one?
I need to replace my steering rack in my 2005 C6 because of popping and clunking sounds when turning the steering wheel. The car has 45000 miles on if and a steering failure to me is pretty scary. Where can I get a good steering rack to replace mine that would be a good quality unit and a good warranty?
Thanks

We can rebuild your rack for you and return it to like new condition. The rebuild cost starts at $300, if any hard parts need to be repaired or replaced then the cost would go up accordingly.

New one will cost about $650, while remanufactured with warrently can be found on the cheap.

Turn around time is about 2 weeks. We can do a core exchange, which ends up being about $800 after we find the core and have it delivered to us to rebuild.

If you elect to go with a replacement from GM you'll get the benefit of the '08 upgrades.
From talon90 in 2011:
The good news is that the gears manufactured for parts after July of 2007 for the 2005 through 2007 system adopted the tighter manufacturing tolerances that were introduced on the 2008 model so any newer rack such as a part purchased in 2011) intended for use in the 2005-2007 should have a little tighter feel with a little less play just by using the correct part in the correct system.

And for what it's worth...mine needed replacement summer '17 at around 60k miles due to popping noises and leaks. The Chevy dealer installed 5 (FIVE!) racks before getting one that was correct. They are all now re-manufactured units if you order GM part from GM. If/when I do it again, I will contact someone like vendor posting above to get a quality rebuilt on my current unit and save the headaches.

We seal the wires so that when it leaves our facility it will not leak. We have a very high success rate with our process, but we cannot guarantee that it will be a permanent fix.
