Default Urge to increase power, but should I stop where I am?

Big internal debate here. I’m running a heads/cam setup on my 2013 C6 Z06, putting down ~560 whp. Next steps in my mind are intake manifold, TB, E85, etc to get low to mid 600’s. However, I’m also considering just going straight to FI and shooting for >900 whp (fully built, etc.)

I don’t do a ton of actual 1/2 mile or drag events (maybe 3-4 a year), but mostly 60+ roll racing (Mexico?). At the end of the day, it’s ego and wanting to be able to lay down serious power. My only hangup here is being able to use that power.

I know I could do low 600’s whp numbers and stop without having to run DR’s or slicks full time (currently get OK traction on MPSS’s).

Just looking to get some input regarding what should be a realistic goal. We all see these 1200+ rwhp YouTube monsters, but is that something anyone could actually put to good use in a C6z without a VHT box and soft walled slicks?

*edit: To add, I know the question is always “How much money do you want to spend?” my concern is spending several thousand dollars ($20k+) on 4-digit peak whp and never being able to use it without turning my car into a dedicated 1/4mi drag queen.

if you're going to be primarily roll racing it for 50-60mph I don't see why a 17 inch drag radial will give you any issues.

17 inch drag radial will still have good driving characteristics and behavior but also make the power you're putting down useful.

You can easily purchase another set of drag specific wheels that you only use when your racing as well.

I don’t disagree, but I also never really said anything about running 17’s or not

If you don’t want to run a DR everyday and don’t plan to do many 1/2 mile events, keep it around 600whp and enjoy it. I’m making 837whp and struggle to get traction with 18” DRs. It’s still a fun street car, but requires some significant throttle modulation on the street. 900+ will cost more than $20k and will be harder to maintain as well.

Tire height doesn’t matter near as much as tire compound. I’m near 700 RWHP and my car is dependable and an absolute blast to drive. Personally, I’d like to tune my car at 850 RWHP for the few track days but detune it to 750 for daily driving. Everyone is so fixated with making 4 digit power but you will rarely use it and the maintenance/money is tremendous. I was one of the guys with the 1000 RWHP or bust mentality until I got to 700 and seen how much fun it is.

A true 550-600 rwhp on these C6Z's is plenty to handle most situations that may come up in the streets. Ported MSD or FAST intake is cheap easy HP to add to your combo, could be another 30-40 hp right there. A 102 TB is only worth ~5hp...so that's up to you. DSX flex fuel for E85, but if you didn't bump your compression up (mill .030+), it may not do that much for you.

Do those simple items, re-tune the car and just enjoy the thing. Too many people take it so far, they wind up taking the enjoyment out of driving the car in most situations.

550-600RWHP is already insane for a c6. I'd just leave it and have fun. Save your money for when you want a new car.
