Coolant Mixed With the Transmission oil ''transmission destroyed''
my 2005 z51 manual corvette has a Coolant Mixed With the Transmission oil that destroyed my Transmission
I noticed my shifting was getting harder in all gears, and then finally I started hearing a horrible grind. Whenever I push my clutch pedal in and shift to the 1st gear
and the 1st gear sometimes slip to neutral
the workshop told me there was a leak in the radiator and i have to change it too
can i just plug the oil line and drive my car "i do not race my car''

If there is a transmission cooler built in to the radiator it's possible it could have broke and contaminated the fluid. I know a lot of autos are setup that way but I don't know if the manuals are set up that way.

Loop the pump and block off the trans lines on the radiator. If it was mine, I would buy a new radiator because if the coolant got into the trans oil, it must have issues that may leave you stranded in the future.

It's possible. But here's my question, how the heck would the radiator coolant end up in a tranny? I had an aftermarket tranny cooler installed on my C5 (A4 / Auto), never had that issue.

Lots of issues here. If you replace the radiator, go with new thermostat. And flush and flush!! IMHO the transmission was designed to have a cooler. Just went through all of this with 2011 Grand Sport A6. Seven thousand dollars later and new tranny is bad! WTF!! Hope to be back on the road next week. Life is just a bowl of cherries. Good luck.

Melting Slicks
Last year the tranny cooler (in the radiator) ruptured in my 2005 A4. Did not notice a problem till the transmission started slipping and overheating. Long story short, it took out the tranny, radiator, cooling system hoses and the tank seals on the heater core. The rubber o-ring on the thermostat was destroyed as well. Transmission fluid “kills” any rubber it comes in contact with. After rebuilding the transmission, replacing the radiator and all hoses and the heater core all is good again.
Make sure you do not have tranny fluid in the cooling system, if you do it may already be affecting the rubber components. Replacing the heater core is not an easy task!!

Actually it is in the front cover of the transmission. I bought 6060 without the pump and added it. About $200 worth of parts to add the pump for the cooler. Of curse the T56 lines and the 6060 lines ar not exactly in the same spot.
