Default Difference in exhaust sizing - 2.5" vs 3.0"

I have a 2010 GS Vert without the NPP option and am looking to replace my exhaust. I don't know where I'll start, axle-back or headers back, but ultimately I'll replace the entire exhaust system, headers-back. I am going to replace the mufflers with the Corsa Sports and use Kooks long tube headers but was wondering whether I should replace with 2.5" or 3.0" pipes and mufflers. Does one really make a performance difference over the other? Does one have that noticeable of a sound difference over the other? I don't want an obnoxious sound, just something good when I hit the gas. I've had Corsa Sport before on a 2006 so I know I'll stick with that exhaust.

You just changed the game. The 2.5" pipe size is better for a basically stock LS3, but 3" works best if you go to FI. It's all about the volume and temperature that creates the highest velocity in choosing pipe sizes.
The video showing a HP increase, was using a 454 block and an aggressive cam. The 2.5" pipes were creating a restriction, just like 2.5" pipes would do on a LS7 or a LS9.

I just got a steal of a deal on a Corsa Sport muffler and x-pipe set. probably going to settle in here for now. maybe next year install the headers and 3" to 2.5" x-pipe from Kooks. Any thoughts on the restriction to 2.5" later on (probably the year after) when/if I install the supercharger?

With Kooks LTH your car will be very noticeably louder, and if its like mine you will have drone, that's why the NPP is the answer, close it and you got quiet
