Default ABS/TC/Active Handing warnings

When I hit a hard bump the "Service Active Handing, Service Anti Lock Brake, and Service Traction Control" warning comes on the DIC and the TCS and ABS lights illuminate on the instrument cluster.

So far, I have installed the "comb" in the steering wheel position harness (per a TBS for 05-08 Corvettes) and checked the connections to the wheel speed sensors.

After a reset by turning the ignition on/off, the problem clears until the next hard bump. My cheap code reader shows NO codes being set!

HELP!!!!

Tom

Might be an issue with your EBCM...and your cheap code reader wont be able to read those EBCM codes. You'll need a Tech 2 or equivalent.

As I mentioned in my previous post, you'll need a Tech2 (or comparable) to pull EBCM codes. The fact that when you hit a bump and the issue reappears suggests (to me) perhaps a cold solder joint in your EBCM.

Since you are able to clear the code and it is not a hard set requiring a tech2/clone to clear it you can most likely not a true ABS failure and can rule out ebcm, and speed sensors in the wheel bearing. Dano correct me if am wrong.

You might want to check for loose or bad connection in the plug wires that connect to the speed sensors and check all spark plug wires as crazy as it sounds a bad spark plug wire / connection will set this code.

BINGO! It was the left rear wheel speed sensor. The plug pack is supposed to mount on a bracket. The plug pack came loose from the bracket and was dangling freely. Over time it broke one of the wires inside the insulation. On bumps, the harness would sway and briefly open the connection.

A little solder and remounting the plug pack and the problem is solved!

Thanks for the hints guys!

Sounds like you found your problem, but keep in mind others that the rear hub sensor wires go through C186 connector right next to the battery under the hood.

So if the problem is not the connector at the wheel hub and the wheel hub senor checks out as fine, could be a problem with the C186 connector isntead.
