Default Wallmart rollback on Mobil Annual Protection...

I still believe that for temps 230°F and below, 5w30 will offer the best protection for my heads/cam LS motor down here in Central Texas and it's climate, (as opposed to 0w40.) At $39.84/ 5 quarts at Wally World, it's probably the best oil in regards to wear protection that one can readily and easily get (free 2 day shipping.) I think Mobil1 made a mistake in the way they marketed this oil and instead of extended OCI's they should have highlighted it's superior durability and protection characteristics.

Interestingly enough, the new M1 rebate period that began Auugst 1 and runs through Halloween, specifically excludes Annual Protection. Oh well. $8/qt for superior M1 protection. Of course, that value proposisition grows even greater as the regular M1 5w30 can be had for $22.88/5 qts with a $12 reabate, or at about $2.18/qt. See why it's so hard to pay more for the exotics?

This is the one you need, and goes on sale from time to time for around $16 per 5 qts from is normal price of $23 instead.

Hence motor heats up enough that it will burn off the bad itself for a year, and keep the above oil good for a year instead.

I've never seen it dip down quite that low up front, but with the M1 mail-in rebate periods they usually offer 2x a year, it sure is hard to beat that value proposition for a little over $2 a quart. EP can be had for a just a few dollars more.

I'm under the impression (according to M1's marketing on the back of the bottle,) that their EP offers slightly greater protection in high temperatures than the regular M1 Advanced Full Synthetic and that their new AP offers superior engine protection than any of their other products. Trying to market the AP as simply being able to go 20,000 miles instead of 15,000 without highlighting a superior engine wear protection was a failure in M1's marketing, in my opinion.

Listen to Dano. Use regular Mobil 1 5W30. Change it every 5,000 miles or once a year. You will get all the protection your engine needs.

I think all the Mobil 1 oils are so close it would be hard to tell them apart under various performance and wear testing. With the only exception being the 20w50. I use 0w40 but I run my vette hard!
