Photobucket finally relented....
Get a load of this. I guess Photobucket realized that very few would pay $400/year to host pics on forums, so starting October 10 they are going to host images, just with a watermark.
That's a fine resolution in my book, I don't care about a watermark.
This means our old threads with great tech advice and pics will live again... great news.

BUT, does that only apply to continuous subscribers or will it restore the files of those who bailed out when they decided to charge high fees? There are lots of posts on this forum with Photobucket pics that are currently blocked. If those aren't all restored, this new deal isn't worth much. I guess we'll know in a couple weeks, since I was one who cancelled, due to the constant emails wanting me to pay to release my pics.
I checked and it seems my old threads have pics in them again as we speak, I guess Photobucket already relented! No watermark at this time either. I’ve never paid photobucket a dime.

Day late, dollar short!!!!
Hence most have already made the exodus from Photo bucket and deleted their accounts when they tried the $400 hosting game stunt, and now they are just trying to get the masses back to make money on their internal ad revenues again.
So my take, Ontela already made their bed with the $400 gouging for hosting, and they can burn in hell thinking that anyone in their right mind is going to go back to using them again; even with the hosting free and watermarks to drive move people to using them as well (whole internal ad revenues increased by having more users ploy).

I agree Dano...but I had 15 years of pictures on the bucket supporting years of threads. No way I was going to move them and frankly I never figured out Imgbb. So, I’m glad they came to their senses.
It was a lousy thing to do to all the forums only increasing their slide to oblivion due to Facebook which I hate. Can’t search for anything on Facebook.

And I won't go back either. I never intended for Photobucket to be a storage place for my photos, but just as a location to make it easy to post them on this forum before the forum made it easy to post from my computer. My backup storage is on flash cards, because I don't trust any online entity or cloud to do it for me.

Personally, when Photobucket screwed all of us I frankly stopped using forums very often. it was too hard to post pics (some of the forums I am on do not support uploading) and I moved over to Facebook where all the forums seem to have gravitated. Facebook does make it super easy to use from your phone or iPad which is how I surf most of the time these days. I've not tried uploading pics from my phone to this forum and I'm not on my computer so much anymore and when I am, it's doing work work.
I'm just glad all our old posts which created a wonderful repository of knowledge will now be back on line since we all used Photobucket for a decade. Without pics it was pretty much useless.

I refuse to be on Facebook, so photobugger was my only method. Today, almost every forum worth posting on can host pictures, rendering PB obsolete. The perfect case of you made your bed, now go sleep in it. They are toast.
