"C6 from 2005-2010 navigation radio clock stops after battery disconnect

Make the call and make them often. Even if your clock hasn't disappeared (yet), it might and you'll want an fix. Make the call.

I have the same problem in The Netherlands after replacing my battery December 24. The GPS is working because the NAV system works. It seems that only the clock does not work. This seems unrelated to GPS because I can not even set the clock manually.

It gets the time from GPS and until it does you cant set it!

This is NOT a hardware problem. If you do some research there is an issue with GPS time nearing the end of the size of
the data storage (counter at 1023). Unfortunately our (2008-C6) GPS/Nav units are not correctly processing what they are getting from
the GPS satellites. To compound this problem new GPS satellites have been launched that increase the size of this
data. It is hard to tell if these satellites are transmitting right now, they were launched Dec 19, 2018 (seem familiar?).
Here is some information on the GPS rollover problem. This is basically identicle to what we were all worried about in Y2K.
https://spectracom.com/resources/blo...-you-need-know
I am a communications firmware engineer. The manufacturer of our GPS units did not properly test this rollover
scenario in relation to the clock. I hope GM will release a firmware fix for this. At this time I would guess GM is
clueless about this (they don't make the NAV units).
The units must not update the GPS time while they are running (powered), only when all power is removed do they load
a new "base" time and calculate the current time. Thus when you remove battery power the problem starts.

Hi there,
I can join your club "without a clock in the car: through the Atlantic. Here in Poland we have the same problem and we have long wondered what could have caused the lack of the clock after the battery was removed.
Just to be sure, the same DENSO navigation system was installed in the 2005-2010 in almost all GM cars: Chevrolet, Chrysler, Cadillac, Ford, SAAB 9-5.
All vehicles have the same problem in Poland.
Best regards
Pawel from Poland

2006 Nav clock stopped working
Hello All,
I just wanted to add my same problem with a disconnect of the battery to install a new radar detector with laser shifters, and upon reconnection of the battery, the Nav clock stopped working. This installation happened last week on Jan. 3rd or 4th. After riding around for a few minutes the navigation maps etc. came back up, but no clock. Since I have a clock on my iPhone, and on my wrist watch, I'm not really that concerned, but I would like for this to be resolved at some point. Called GM customer service, they spoke to the "infotainment group", came back on the line and said they had no bulletin on this etc., and told me to go to the dealer, where I'm sure that have no clue yet either. I hope we can get GM to acknowledge this problem and start working on it. Like many here, I'm sure it is software or firmware related to the satellite system, somehow.
Still love my C6 (111,000 miles)! Recently added a new RPM Auto transmission (paddle shift), new rebuilt drive shafts when the bearings and seals started leaking, new torque converter, harmonic balancer, retuned and gained 48 HP (now 352 to the rear wheels). All done by MTI racing in Marietta,Ga. Some more upgrades coming soon.

Hey Vette owners
I joined to post this here, I have an 05 STS, this car shares the nav disc with your Corvettes, utilizing a Denso Nav unit.
The issue as highlighted is in how the unit counts dates, until this counter is corrected our nav units will not fully function.
I have made a post on GMs facebook page to get pressure on GM to fix this. The radios are not bad, its a software glitch that needs repaired via an update from Denso.
Please all owners take the 5 minutes to chime in on this facebook post so GM knows that this is in fact a wide spread issue.

Ok for some reason I cannot get the link to post as JUST the link. The BEST work around I have found would be to QUOTE my post and you will see the facebook link then cut and paste it into your web browser!

Calling sadly wont work here. If you do youll simply be told out of warranty, no record of problem, youre on your own. With everyone going directly to GMs facebook page it helps in several ways.
1 it makes it public so other can see owners are having an issue and GM should want to correct it
2 GM cant claim they are ignorant about it and haven't heard if its right on their page with numerous owners complaining.
3 GM will see that its not a 1 or 2 car issue its an issue with all STS and 05-10 Corvette Denso based nav radios.

I would assume that is normally the proper way, but I think the problem people will run into is that a lot of dealers will just tell you that you need to replace your nav unit, which is going to be a bill of approx $3000, and unless you agree to that, they won't pursue it any further.

EXACTLY. Not to mention replacing the radio still won't fix the problem. You'd be in the same boat.
