Folsom Chevys Head Electronic Tech says They complain to GM that there's no way to set the clock and all customers with Nav complain there's no clock after disconnecting the battery but normally it comes back in a few minutes. They said I was the first C6 owner to complain about the NO CLOCK issue. We'll see. Thats why I said screw it and put a USB radio in. I figured it will be a while if they ever fix it. The Clock came back on this USB radio in less than 5 minutes three times after disconnecting the battery.

Vettes are lucky. Sts the nav controls memory seats/mirror magnetic ride control, lane assist and blind zone alert. We can't swap.

The USB radio he's talking about is the Corvette one from 2011-2013 (newer than the 2005-2010 one that has these problems, but not too much different). So it's still "stock", just updated. No clue if the STS has anything like that going on.

Exactly what I was thinking too - how can they want to replace the unit, when that won't fix the issue? I think at the end with many unhappy owners complaining to them, they will do something...

Sure, but from the dealer's point of view, they won't find out that it doesn't fix the problem until they do the actual replacement. And that requires the customer approving a $3000 charge, just to (in theory) get a clock back. There won't be many takers on that, so there won't be many dealers able to confirm this problem.

You can put the 2011-13 USB radio(Part#20856087) in any C6 vette but you will need to add wiring to use the USB and AUX ports. Better hurry I'll bet the price on Ebay is gonna go higher if GM doesn't fix the 05-10 models problem. I got lucky and got one for $356. Then I had to pay a dealer an Hours Labor for a 15 minute job. LOL I got it all now. a PAL2 for my iPod classic. A USB port for newer stuff. 2 AUX ports and a 6 CD Changer. My screen is full of stuff to play with now. Yes the CD players have the loudest and best sound quality. Much better than MP3s. Cheers folks!

Didn't realize that the PAL worked with the new one, figured I'd have to remove mine if I upgraded. Does an iPod Classic not work on the new radio's USB port in the console?

iPod Classics work just fine in the USB. The pal adapter can do a search by letter and Woo Hoo puts the Corvette logo on the iPod screen. That doesn't happen with the USB port. But I'm told thumb drives work. Newer iPhones, Androids and iPods won't work with the PAL, but will work in the USB and it will charge 5 volt devices like my phone. So its great having both. Next stop is a Bluestar II from Costar and wala Bluetooth for my phone. It disables On Star but who's gonna pay $30 a month so I'l be chitin in tall cotton. $300 for Bluetooth is pricey but it will mute the Stereo. So I can Rock and Blast and get Calls. LOL.

I just bought this 2005 with 11,000 miles and it's like new so bada bing I need a PAL. I found one and installed it and NO CLOCK. I was distraught so I tried everything NO FIX. I tried two used radios semi-locally, 1 used and 1 new Nav antenna and NO Clock so I heard the USBs were OK and did the mods to install one. I just sold a 2017 Z06 to Carmax for 65K to pay for a cabin on a 1/3 acre at Eagle lake, CA. I was missing my Vettes and found this Baby for 22K so I was sick when I thought I broke it. Im also thinking its a firmware problem.

wow... this is absolutely mind bending.

I started another thread when I had problems finding an existing thread... shocking, the search never has worked right on this site.

It was not my car... a friends... it's a 2008, everything else seems to work, but the clock won't reset.

wait until April?

We shall see... might try the fuse thing. His dealer claimed there is a memory battery that is causing this. I will forward him to this thread, and that reset screen link.

Thanks!!!

Radios and More said No Battery, Some one should Call them maybe and see if they know more about this issue. I did call and ask about the battery and they said NO there is no battery. Maybe they have more info now! Maybe they have an accurate answer now. They are the only east coast refurbisher I found and only $450 with a 1 Year Warranty. They must know something. Mines fixed now so I'll let one of you call. 1-877-888-2225.

I have been speaking with GM via facebook messenger and they are escalating the issue. I will keep everyone posted on what they say and if there is any acknowledgement of the issue and if they are going to work on a remedy.

Add me to the group. Had my battery replaced last week and now no clock.
Just posted this on the General Motors Facebook page:
Posting for the Corvette forum. There seems to be an issue that started around 12/18/18 with the C6 radio/nav units concerning the clock. If the battery is disconnected the clock stops working, even with a new battery. Hundreds of owners of 2007-2010 C6's are reporting this problem. Soon there will be many more as they replace or disconnect their batteries. Please advise on a fix.

If you are just replacing the battery (and it's not dead) wire a 9 volt battery to a cigarette lighter and plug it in beforehand. It may keep your clock alive.

Add me to this list, and thanks to rkj427 for redirecting me here!!! 2006 C6 vert. Disconnected to battery to complete a lengthy Harmonic Balancer replacement. When re-energizing the car, no clock in any mode.

I am so glad that you all are chiming in and adding your experiences after the dealer basically blew me off as a bad radio. I appreciate the following to this thread. Glad to hear that GM is working on a fix, as posted a few posts earlier.

The GM PAL will work fine with any of the factory Nav radios, including the new USB Nav radio, part number 20856087. While the new USB radios are very nice, there are two advantages the PAL has. The search features are a bit better with the PAL and the music information shows up on the HUD if you have a PAL. If you already have a PAL installed using the old "GM way", where you had to cut the XM communication wire and connect at the back of the radio, you will likely want to leave the PAL in place since it is difficult to restore your car to its factory condition. Here's a website for installing one of the newer USB radios:

http://www.kawal.net/USB%20Nav.htm

I have the new USB radio in my own '07 Z06, and I use both the USB features and the Version 2 PAL. The Version 2 PAL allows you to control your iPod in Direct Mode, so it's very handy for listening to audiobooks.

I'm watching this thread with interest, and I hope GM provides a solution. It's aggravating to not have a working clock, or anything that doesn't work for that matter. We all want our Vettes to be perfect, like they were when we bought them.

Ray

I've got a V2 PAL that you upgraded many years ago, but it's definitely installed the "GM way" as it came with the car as a dealer-installed option. So I guess if I upgrade, I leave it in place. Thanks for the info.

I have been in contact with GM over the past two days. They have been very responsive and are actually listening to what I am telling them. I explained to them how it is a firmware issue and they are investigating it. They are contacting my local dealer to use my car as a test case on how to proceed and remedy the issue. Ill keep you all updated.
