opinions on Borla vs. Corsa exhaust systems
I have asked earlier this year about an upgrade from a stock C-6 exhaust system (2009 LS-3 with stick) to a reasonably quiet unit without the droning sound whilst driving on highway . One of the members suggested Corsa Touring . So my question to anyone who care share their knowledge is , what are (if any ) between Borla Touring and the Corsa Touring for quality , sound , performance , and the advantages if you add the x pipe to the mix . Last question how much louder is the Sport systems form either manufacturer over the Touring package , is the sound that much more and any difference in performance . Thanks for any helpful thoughts or suggestions that will help with making a decision . Chopperchef !

I don't think Corsa makes a touring any more. Unless you have to have huge tips I would do with the NPP mufflers for your car year range and do the Zip tie mod to hold the valve at the desired level you want it at. But if you want the Corsa or Borla do the Sports and you should be happy and not have drone and still have a little rumble.

I have a Borla S. The factory mufflers were just too quiet for me. I like the S, no drone, enough noise but not too much. I’ve seen posts by people with Touring and thought it was too quiet.

Thanks for the feed back ! Do you know how much louder are the Sport vs. Touring 10% 20% ETC. And do you know anything about the optional X pipe , does it gain more power and is it louder , thanks .

If your not installing a set of headers, save your money on the intermediate (X-pipe). Just get the axle-back mufflers.
The Borla 'Touring' mufflers will be slightly louder than your OEM mufflers .... but, they don't drone at all at highway speeds.
Sorry, I can't tell you anything about the Corsa muffs

The Corsa touring exhaust is no longer available, the sport is what I have on my 2010 with Kooks headers & Kooks X pipe with cats, I find this setup to be not too loud to be obnoxious, but you can here the exhaust in the cab at idle, at wot, the system is loud but no drone....this is such a subjective topic as to what "loud" is, check out the U tube videos of the different systems for a better idea

I've had Corsa on a c6 Magnaflo on a another c6 and Borla, the middle one(type s?) sound the best imo. Magnalow fit the best and easily adjustable for perfect tips but a hint of drone (good sound though) and Corsa tips are work of art but hard to get all of the perfectly aligned...sound is good...Borla overall winner...Finish on the tips ID underwhelming, may be better now that was back in 2012.
Corsa is also heavy and price is too...

Pick by sound, dont expect to get power gains especially if youre not thrilled with what the ears hear.
Wouldnt get too woundup over the X either, maybe you can find some guys in the regional section that meet up (hopefully have the 2 systems)

I would not waste money on an exhaust just to get a sound level increase (you won't see a power gain). And the other problem with just putting on an exhaust is you will almost always end up with drone.
Now if you put a proper set of headers and catted X-pipe on your car, you will have better sound, realize about a 15 to 20 hp gain without a tune (more with a tune, which I also recommend). The car will be a little louder at idle but still relatively quiet. You won't have any drone on the highway while cruising. And when you go WOT, your car will scare the **** out of small children and animals.
I would also recommend a used NPP exhaust also. With headers and catted x-pipe, when the RPM's hit about 4000 and the butterfly valves open, it is full bore race car sound then. Pretty awesome.

If you like big tips, here is a set of early type-1 Borla 'Touring' mufflers ... Tips are 4 1/2" wide ovals
