1.8 Rocker Questions
I am sure that this has been answered before and I tried the search but not finding the answers I need.
I am thinking of getting a set of 1.8 ratio rockers, 1219X PAC springs, BTR titanium retainers and hardened pushrods for a little power bump and valvetrain upgrade and I have questions. This is for a 2011 GS with LS3.
1. Was thinking of getting the 1.8 Yella Terra's. Are these the best?
2. Will they fit under the stock valve covers without clearance issues?
3. Stock length pushrod correct for this, 7.400? Or do I need longer? (I will measure regardless)
4. Anything else I need to know?
I will have my tune adjusted to take advantage of the mod. I probably won't change out the valve seals as the car only has 20K miles on it.
Thanks.

I am using the 1.85 yella terra rockers. I did not change the valve springs didn't have any issues for 10k miles.
I did change the push rods for longer 7.45 and the kit came with valve cover spacers. That along with
ported stock intake and throttle body I notice it pull harder. Someone on the camaro5 forum is selling his
package deal for good price imo

Yellaterra rockers are not really looked well upon by most people. The have several issues, and you couldn't pay me to run them. If the offer was $500 to me, and the rockers I would still say no. I wouldn't even take them to resell them because I would feel bad about selling them to someone else.
1219 are a pretty stout spring, and those rockers, and possible the lifters won't like that much pressure.

We have been running Yellaterras on our LS7 heads with a .651 lift and the springs to match the setup for quite a while now. The only problem was the needle bearings pitted the shafts and didn't hold up.
So we got new shafts and made bronze bushings with special oiling grooves. They have been working great! We recently checked to see how our bushings were waring and they are holding up perfectly.
This engine sees 7000 rpm pretty often.
Thanks
Christian

I've been running the 1.85 Yella Terras for 5 years now and about 50,000kms on stock GS heads and springs with ARP studs, comp cams push rods, Z06 exhaust and the Haltech air intake, ECS mail order tune. Feels frickn' AMAZING!

I was able to purchase the 1.85 rockers, 7.450 pushrods, PSI 1511 behive springs, and titanium retainers from a person on the Camaro5 forums. Should be everything that I need to do the installation correctly.

Interesting. Do you remember what length pushrod you needed to use with the rockers? And did you need to use the shims under the pedastals?

I had mine on for some time on my 1LE and then swapped them to my C6. I managed to run 10.58@131 with bolt ons and the rockers and made 453/445 SAE. It is a great upgrade however I do not suggest using stock springs. One your well above the max lift and close to coil bind and 2 you can drop a pound out of the valvetrain by using a psi1511/1516. I had a BTR titanium retainer fail recently but this was after a lot of abuse and 50k miles. I ended up doing GPI 281cc heads and SS4 cam and put down 562/448 SAE over the weekend.

Thanks for the info. I hoped the ti-retainers would be a bit more stable... So maybe its better to use the heavier oem-retainers in combination with high-lift and strong valvesprings?

I decided that I will just re-use my stock steel retainers.

Impressive numbers all around! What ET are you shooting for with the new combo? Also curious your opinion of 60’ with a super light clutch that doesn’t have a lot of MOI? My experience when I worked at Monster and testing a 22lb setup was it took more rpms which meant more heat having to be generated and didn’t bode well for a small clutch that didn’t have a lot of thermal capacity. FWIW I went 1.49 (10.9@125) with 422rwhp and 42lb Kevlar clutch in C5, went 1.54 with stock LS6 clutch at 393rwhp and 1.61 with stock LS2/3/7 clutch in bone stock Grand Sport.

Heading to MIR Monday to see. Looking for 9.99 out the fast intake and 9.8x with the LOD intake. I managed 1.50 60' with the 16 pound tilton but i welded the discs together by the end of the day lol I now have a Twin carbon RPS with aluminum flywheel that weighs a hefty 26 pounds. It has netted me a 1.52 60' last fall on a not so great day. Looking for 1.4s Monday and some 137-138 trap speeds I went a best of 132 with my bolt on set up last april.
Sorry for the hi-Jack op as I know your post wasn’t about clutches.
