If you go to your Chevy dealer and ask for GM's replacement for an LS1,2,3,7,9, or LS based truck engine, you'll get the same lifter. Genuine GM stuff that doesn't cost near $600 for a full set. Less than two hundred bucks from Summit, Tooley has them for a little over 200.

What old motorhead said.

But the ebay stuff is china knock off stuff most of the time. If they are much less than $140 or so, you are not getting real GM parts, but china knockoffs.

And people can believe what they want, but the stupid cheap stuff off ebay is almost all china knock off stuff. Just because the ad list "GM genuine" on them doesn't mean anything.

If there's any doubt, it's not a wise move to save a few bucks here. When a lifter goes bad, lots of bad things follow. At the very least, you're going to have to pull the heads, change the lifters, and change the cam. Then, there's all of that metal from the crapped out lifter and the buggered up cam matriculating though your motor. You're saving 50 or a hundred bucks....to risk that?

So your saying he got GM lifters but they are cheap replacements? I don't see what sense that makes if I understand you and only makes this thread more confusing.

I've just bought a set including trays from ebay, provided they are genuine then I'm happy. They should turn up next week (I'm in the UK). I have no issue buying genuine parts at a cheaper price.

As far as "saying" Genuine GM parts, I'm reminded of a joke many years ago about a town in Japan (of all places) that was re-named, Usa.. The joke went that because of that, they could call anything stamped from that town as Made In "Usa." In actuality there is a Usa now but not for that reason.

jim2092- Yes wholesale from a division of well known forum vendor.Anyone buying order the set of sixteen p/n 12499225 from gmwarehousedirect for just under $200. Careful who you buy from as lots of GM dealers are advertising that p/n but substituting with a cheap replacement lifter. When buying individually at $38.each the set of 16 for under $200.is the way to go

so below is the ad from the ebay vendor I purchased my lifters. Are you saying he is lying and not was described?

You found them!

GM 12499225 Hydraulic Roller Lifters

LS1, LS2, LS3, LS7 - (4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.2L)

These ARE OEM 100% U.S.A. MADE Lifters!

Beware of non GM Lifters - Most Aftermarket lifters are Assembled in the USA with CHINA made components! MY customers demand GM lifters, they have tried others and ended with labor claims!

nd you would be correct Sir! Those are the LS7 lifters I bought off Ebay in your pics you can see the part #'s etched into too them, product counterfeiting has become a BIG deal and EBAY and AMAZON is very careful about how a product is presented, The china lifters in my pic are represented as "just like gm ls7" you need to read the description and apply the words meaning as in the English language
