Yes, buy a new one for the install. Corvette tech that did mine said trying to use the old one over is a waste of time...literally. He messed with mine for a couple hours and finally put a new one on in a bout five minutes.
Anyone have tips for the drivers fuel tank crossover install? Put a Racetronix 525lph pump and spent 75% of the time messing with this.
Lubricate all the O-rings. I used a little motor oil.
If the tanks are out, test the level senders by flipping the tanks over and confirming that the resistance range goes from empty to full. It's much easier to correct before you've put the car back together.
Yeah take it to a shop. I messed with it all and finally got it all connected only to have no fuel pressure. Took it to a shop and they had two techs on it for 6 hours but finally got it. Best money I’ve spent on my build lol. Worst design ever for maintenance.
I feel as if the tube is in ok, just that locking collar is just alittle short of being able to turn. I've pulled it apart and re-inserted the crossover tube with oil and still cant get the collar to lock.

It all goes together super easy when its in properly. Try shoving it in there harder than you think and that worked for me the first time. It’s possible those lines inside the tube are also slightly off. Like I said it’s a **** job but eventually you’ll know when it goes because you’ll feel it and locking collar goes on easy.
That locking metal collar be a pita but not to be just take a Q tip soaked in motor oil wet the two contact parts and it will turn into it’s locking position in no time you’ll think it ain’t true then just spray brake cleaner to wash off the oil.
I think I got it finally. Spoke with a gm tech and was advised to use Sil-Glide on orings which I did. I just kept messing with it and suddenly the collar locked. Dumped fuel in and it held good fuel pressure.
I did have to replace the two return lines in the tank initially due to a tab breaking off. The one that went to the pump went on good but the other I could not get into the clip that just holds it to the case. So far so good.
