Default Backup camera wiring attempt

2008 Stingray coupe.

Removed passenger side outer taillight, found light green wire in bundle, used voltmeter with car in reverse on positive lead to light green and negative lead to black wire. Instant spark and reverse light went out.

Checked fuse but #5 not blown. Everything but backup lights work. Any ideas how to fix? Thank you.

Default Fixed

There is another reverse light fuse inside car on floorboard box. Replaced blown fuse inside car and revers lights good.

I carefully checked light green and black wires and got 13V. No idea why this exact same test failed initially and fuse blew.

Is that backup light 10a fuse on the BCM in the passenger footwell powered all the time or only when backup relay is energized for backup lights? I want to use the backup lights circuit as trigger wire only and would rather tap the fuse in the BCM unless that fuse is hot all the time? Cannot find a schematic.
