Default Keys not learning ....

First post and its a fun one. 😁

Stopped for gas earlier and was unable to get back into my car. Figured the batteries in the fob died, so I bought new batteries. This didn't fix the issue , so I entered using the trunk trick. At this point , the car wouldn't start stating no fobs detected. I used the key in the glovdbox slot and it worked to get me home. Once home, I tried to use my second remote on the car, and it didn't work. Lock/unlock did nothing for me, neither did the glovebox slot. Glovebox slot also failed to work with original key at this point. So I decided to attempt to reprogram the keys. With the physical key in the back, rotated it 5 times and immediately got ready for fob1 on the dash. Did key 1 and 2, and pressed the lower half of the start/stop. Tested the keys and they didn't work at all. No lock/unlock/start and didn't work in the glovebox slot. Repeated the program sequence and immediately got the same ready for fob 1 on the dash. Nothing has gotten the fobs to register. Gave up and called the mobile locksmith. Dude knew these cars well and did the process with his system. Keys still didn't hold the learn. Any ideas what to check? I'm out of ideas. *note car is on charger during the whole process. Tested both fob batteries and they are both Good.
Have tried un-connecting the battery and waiting an hour.
oh, and they keys were properly placed the in glovebox slot, and buttons faced the passnager door.
