I heard one of the speakers say that the camshaft lift was increased 13% from the stock 2004 LS1 camshaft.

2004 = .479/.467
2005 = .541/.528 , 13% increase from 2004 numbers ?? A good guess ?

That should defintely sound healthy if so. The .560/.560 in my car certainly does.

That would be nice but the larger displacement will make that cam "tamer" than it would be in the 5.7 liter. Of course, the diplacement increase is only marginal as will be the "taming" effect.

It is my understanding that duration and compression will effect the sound more than lift. Just the fact that this motor is 10.9:1 at 6.0L makes me very excited. I have to tell you that my Escalade with the current 6.0L HO motor sounds awesome with the FACTORY exhaust system. If definately has "bite" to it.

Ya know, I was just looking over your lift numbers again, those lifts are not too far from the current LS6 numbers. It would be very nice to know what durations they are going to run, as it would definately allow some very close guesses on the actual horsepower of the LS2.

The Webcast mentioned "valve spring technology borrowed from Z06". LS2 valve timing is probably somewhere between LS1 and LS6. GMPT has apparently been able to increase maximum lift and valvetrain limiting speed via improvements in valve springs without having to use LS6' higher cost lightweight hollow valves.

This is called "sweating the details".

None of this is going to make a significant difference in exhaust note.
