'05 Z51 Package, this makes me upset.
The new 2005 Z51 Package. I guess my question would be, why didn't you guys (GM) offer all these neats things on the c5.
2005 - Z51 Performance Package: unique springs, dampers, stabilizer bars, tires, cross-drilled brake rotors, unique transmission, and heavy duty steering and transmission coolers
2003 - Z51 Performance Package: stiffer springs and stablizier bars.

Well also keep in mind that the Z51 on the C5 was a $350.00 (cheap) option, I have a feeling it will be well in excess of $1000.00 on the new car.
No, wheels and tires were/are the same size regardless.
Doesn't the Z51 on the C5 offer wider wheels up front and a PS cooler too?

It offers those things except tires, cross drilled rotors, tranny, and tranny cooler.
That and cross-drilled rotors would have probably stopped my rotors from cracking. :D

iT looks GM might be finally getting smart and bringing back the performance days of the 60s in which you can get all kind of performance options on your ride... I would like the blue devil option please

C5 Z51 for all C5s consisted of higher rate springs, bars, shocks, and a power steering oil cooler.
C6 Z-51 adds larger cross drilled brake rotors, Supercar fun flat tires, side airbags, and the transmission oil cooler, which also apparently includes a provision for cooling the diff. The diff oil is cooled by the trans fluid and the trans fluid is cooled by engine coolant.

For sure! My estimate is about a thousand bucks but, remember, you won't have to pay $900 extra for the six-speed manual.

I don't understand why it should cost THAT much more.
Realistically the only thing you are ADDING is the coolers. Everything else is SWAPPED out - brakes, tires, tranny etc. Sure, I can see GM charging more for the higher performance, but realistically how much more does the MN12 cost them to build vs. an MN6. Probably nothing more, it is just different ratios right?
I'm sure they'll put a performance premium on there, but much more than $1000 for what you get would surprise me.

I agree! The marginal cost increase for the substituted parts - springs, shocks, bars, brake rotors, gearbox internals, and tires is zero to not much. The biggest cost driver of Z-51 is the additional hardware for the coolers.
Nothwithstanding the above, GM may price it higher than cost plus normal profit margin because they figure that customers be willing to pay a premium. Z06 is certainly priced higher than the marginal cost plus normal profit margin of the substitured hardware.
Since they read this forum, don't give them any ideas. ;)

As I said, I hope you guys are right, but I think it will be a marketing set price. It will be cheaper than the Magnetic shocks, but still substantial. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but those little boxes on the order form is where they make their big bucks. I think their excuse will be the "special" trans and "special" tires.

That would be nice if it is cheaper then the magnetic shocks. Currently that option goes for around $1700 and I don't see it changing considerably for the C6, so that wouldn't be too bad.

more of a reason to buy a c6 instead of a c5....the kept it from the c5 for marketing in my opinion.
