I just purchased an 08 Vette and it looks like the previous owner only left the bracket that is glued to the body of the car. I just ordered a new unit and want to remove the old. Can I remove the old glued on plate with goof off without hurting the paint since the wing nuts and studs are rusty?

Hi David, you can use fishing line or dental floss, using a sawing type motion to cut thru the adhesive between the bracket and painted surface of the car. Afterwards use the goof off or equivalent to remove the remaining adhesive, then I would suggest wiping the area down with mineral spirits and the finish off with wiping the area with alcohol
and thank you for the order

1. Hello, has the 3m tape ever come undone, attached to the underside of the top bumper?
2. Does the permanent kit also attach to the upper and lower sections of the front bumper? After some time does it damage the paint of these locations?
3. My state's requirement is that the license be 12" above the ground, has anyone gotten a ticket for one which is 8". Angry Meter maids or excuses to pull you over?

Thanks, this product definitely looks the best!

2. Does the permanent kit also attach to the upper and lower sections of the front bumper? After some time does it damage the paint of these locations? It attaches to the bottom of the upper bumper and it does not damage the paint.

3. My state's requirement is that the license be 12" above the ground, has anyone gotten a ticket for one which is 8". Angry Meter maids or excuses to pull you over? Never heard anyone having a problem with this

To the posts asking if the tape comes loose in time, I have driven my Vette less than 2,000 miles and the mount is loose on one side. The install was done 11 months ago and the car is garaged and covered when not driven.
i emailed Top Flite on their website and had no reply.
I thought emailing there 1st would be more proper than here in public. I actually bought the mount plus 2 of the very expensive painted plate covers. I guess I'll have to shop for some better two sided tape. Any suggestions on what to buy?

Great product! I bought it for my 13GS when I bought it new in 2013. I sold it in 14 but I just bought it again Thanksgiving weekend. I can't remember if I sold the frame mount or not so I need to look around for it. I did still have the 60th Anniversary frames though.

Utah is a two plate state but I never heard of anyone getting a ticket for it. I had a friend (Utah plates) get a ticket on I-80 in Nebraska though because they said Utah is a two plate state. So apparently you can still get a ticket somewhere else.

The Top Flight Reproductions C6 front license plate bracket is the best looking mount available. It follows the contour of the front bumper. Installs easily without lifting the car. Requires no drilling for attachment like some others do. Our bracket is priced considerably lower than other after market solutions and is made in the USA

All three Top Flight Reproductions front license plate brackets are in stock and ready to ship. Visit our website at www.topflightrepro.com or call 781-279-1279 and ask for Ray.

Top Flight does your bracket install using existing fasteners or just with tap? Im uneasy
about the tape holding it. My original plate holder (oem) was taped to the bumper and
came off too easy. Lucky that it fell off in the garage so I didn't loose the plate.
Thanks

Hi Jimmy, I understand your concern, we use a very aggressive adhesive strip that covers much more area than the OEM bracket. I have the bracket attached to my C6 and have never had a issue

Thanks for your reply. It now sounds like a improvement over the oem bracket.

Hello, I just bought and installed this Top Flight removable license plate holder.
It's my opinion that the two threaded studs and their accompanying wing nuts are too small.
I feel the studs should be at least 3/16 ths. diameter not 1/8 th. inch. Even using 1/4 inch would have not been over kill in my opinion.
I can see if these studs ever get rusty those studs are going to break off and then you would have to saw off the mounting plate using their knotted fishing line method which will probably ruin your paint and be a pain in the you know what to get it off.
Also the studs are so short that they do not project beyond the wing nut. They do not even completely fill the wing nut.
Adding 1/8 inch or so to the studs length would be better in my opinion. While I am sure the studs are short to help hide them if you have the plate off , I feel they are too short.
Overall it is a nice product with undersized studs that are too short.
