Team TCE scores Second in class and Third overall at the 2017 Mt. Washington Hill Climb.

A great event run by the NH Sports Car Club this winding mountain road goes 7.6mi up at an average grade of 17%. We took three other Colorado Hill Climb specialists with us to take on the locals..and finished Second in the Open Class to Dan Novembre and Third overall to Dan and "Quck time", the Man: Travis Pastrana who shattered the course record with a run of 5:46. We followed at a 6:26 and 6:28. Neither Dan or I, nor the others had anything for those factory Subarus! (essentially 21st century Group B cars they were gutted and tuned up to nearly 700hp for this event)

Ride along on the first run (6:35) of the day here:

Wilwood parts in motion, challenging the best the world has to offer.

Got your eye on a Wilwood kit but you really like those insulated Thermlock pistons for greater heat rejection?

You've read the comments..."those calipers don't fit the caliper kit and the 14" kits" or "great that they come with 20mm pads, how come we can't get this stuff on the dedicated race kit?"

Don't believe everything you read. TCE can supply any Aero6 front Caliper Kit or 14-15" Street Kit with the proper caliper- a thermlock piston built, nickel plated caliper.

While some say they can't or won't....TCE listens and does.

Out playing with the Wilwood parts again!

Lands End Hill Climb- Grand Junction, CO

A struggling weekend of sort as the team suffered a transmission failure on run 1 Saturday. With no replacement part on hand we were sidelined. Except that our other car: Little Red was now open, our renter having been unable to attend due to family issues. The crew quickly unloaded the second car and did some last minute prep making the second run even. This the same car we won in class last year with at a time of 5:24 it's a proven machine. We also ran it personally at Temple Canyon in May. A few changes here and there the car got better and faster to where we grabbed the top Super Sprint qualifying tiime of 5:15 for the day. Sunday we bettered that with a 5:10 in the morning and later down to a 5:04. A newcomer however running an exciting new vehicle; the Crosskart was able to better our time with a 4:59. I think we'd have had that covered in the 4 car given the conditions of the road and been able to hold onto the top spot..but we'll never know. A job well done to the Crosskart team- and a cool new vehicle to the CHCA in hopes of generating a new and exciting "Spec Class"- go check them out! Our final time good enough for Second in class and the Fifth quickest overall agains the big bore cars. A good weekend despite some challenges. Lands End Road remains a driver and fan favorite for good reason.

Ride along on the 5:04 run

TCE: we don't just sell it, we race it.

You tow vehicle need some brakes to match your track day car?

TCE offers far more than just Corvette kits! TCE was the founder of the Super Duty kits some 6-7yrs ago. Today we offer both the "original" as well as the Wilwood factory kit.

Don't have a SD? Prefer the bow-tie? No problemo; TCE has competitive pricing on all Wilwood factory kits for the Chevy/GM line of 2500 series trucks.

And of course custom work is always under way.... Current projects include:
1. 1963 Cadillac 13" Front
2. 1930 Cadillac 14" Front
3. Mustang IRS rear 13" conversion with spot p-brake

For years TCE has offered you the Wilwood "race" kit with it's full size Aerolite calipers and 20mm pads. But some have avoided this kit due to the cost. The kit is assembled with the Nickel plated bodies, Thermlock pistons and full floating Rotor Hats. A viable package for sure but one that, for some, pushes the price point into the red zone a bit too quickly.

So what can we do about that? Why repackage the items into a lower cost kit that omits some of the items but includes the desired 20mm thick pads for hours and hours or trouble free operation! In fairness the 17mm pads of the standard kits offer nearly 15% more friction material than the popular 7420 that's been around forever and well over 20% more than the 7416 found in the basic street kits. Bottom line: you won't be servicing these pad too soon!

The kit is fit with Wilwood's BP40 race compound with high Cf and serious initial bite and suited to long high temperature exposure.

The new kit includes the lower cost Anodized body and is fit with standard SS pistons. It also uses the more popular fixed mount rotor hats, no floaters. All that drives down the final cost. With a list price of $1869 plus flex hoses and shipping it's a viable option from the get-go. But you know TCE will offer you a package deal and save you some money....Let's take a look at what is included in this kit!

You're going to need some wheel clearance for this larger caliper however so do please check the wheel fit data below.

Want to know what's involved with the installation of this kit? Click HERE for the full instructions.

Here's the DEAL: you can have this complete kit, a ss flex hose kit...and...two bottles of Wilwood EXP Brake Fluid to the door (US) for $1759. This price may or may not last long...if you're serious now is the time to look to your track day needs and grab this deal while you can!

With more and more folks considering the Larger 20mm pad Aero6 caliper for their track day need TCE is now stocking the 20mm pad options for this caliper. We will be stocking the popular Poly A, B and H compounds for customer needs.]

The TCE BRAKE PAD PAGE has been re arranged a bit to put both pads and pad wear plats and Ti Heat Shims in the same location. Less searching for what you need; pick some pads and below that see the optional plates and shims you may wish to add for your purchase.

The SERVICE PARTS PAGE has also been updated a bit to give you real world images of the parts available to service all your Wilwood needs. Find seals, bleeder nipple caps, clips and hardware.

In other Custom News we recently wrapped up a custom build for a Buick Wildcat. There's one you don't see too often. This is a front and rear 14" kit with Aerolite calipers on all fours. Some sample images below, we're eagerly waiting for the final "on car" pics to show you more.

At TCE we like Corvettes as much as anyone but there's a world of other vehicles out there just dying for some brake love...what can TCE build for you?

Haven't had time to put up much of an update lately with multiple shop projects but we do have news to share!

DUST WIPE CALIPERS:

One of the ongoing questions about the use of Wilwood calipers for the street has always been the lack of dust boots. While most feel it's not really an issue it's clearly had others look elsewhere. Today there's an alternative: the Dust Wipe shod Wilwood caliper. The caliper now has an outer 'wiper seal' to stave off the common dragging of grit into the seal area at the time of pad change- the number one cause of caliper contamination. With the dust wipe in place you have greater protection against internal damages or ingestion of brake dust, water, grit, and anything else that seems to be in the way....

While they are not "BOOTS" (they do not extend with the piston), they do have a place in the daily driver application for sure. And not being boots they will be more tolerant of high heat demands on an occasional track day. They will now allow many of the calipers/kits meet Euro standards for secondary seals and boots. *Your regulations may vary.

These new seals are being installed in a vast number of calipers including the very popular Aero4/6 models as well as FNSL4/6- off of which are the most popular on the Corvette platform. At this time they will be an optional "upgrade" for a cost of roughly $100 per kit. They are not yet being supplied by default into your kits so you do need to contact me directly for any orders. They are not available in dedicated "race" applications such as the AER6-ST with Thermlock pistons. Think street market please.

INTERNAL CROSS OVERS:

Another change across the line is the implementation of internal cross over fluid bodies. Recent changes in body production including stress flowed forgings has produced an improved and stiffer body. That in turn has allowed the ugly old cross over tube and fittings to be removed on many calipers. This began some years ago with the Aerolite line and have now made their way into the FNSL line as well as the smaller DL line. The DL models have also sprouted larger body bolts now for greater body stiffness. Seems pretty much a win-win deal for the smaller class caliper.

Speaking of the FNSL6 caliper.....today we have a new six pot model displacing 4.86" of piston area bringing the family to three: 3.46, 4.04, and 4.86". Why the change? Many applications today need a larger displacement and to do so required the use of the (larger bore) FNSL4 to get the proper area desired. And of course most consumers hear "four pot" and immediate feel it's inferior...."six pot" must be better, right? Well...not really but yeah I get it and marketing being what it is you now have an equally effective SIX pot to match up with the common four pot rear kits. Again; a winning combo!

While on the topic of Winning TCE took to the races a few weeks ago and set fast Qualifying and Race times in the first race of the 2018 season. With a three car team we rely on Wilwood for all our braking needs. From calipers and pads, to masters and fluids...even wide five hubs on the 4 car. TCE not only sells Wilwood, we rent it (two car rentals) and win on it. What's stopping you??

C5 and C5 Owners: Wilwood Race Kit Special.

As of late Wilwood has opted to cut use of the Nickel plating on its calipers. To that end we are removing this option from the pages that listed them- both full kits and the Caliper Kits.

But.....checking inventory there are a couple of Wilwood Race Kits available yet with this fine looking finish. What is a "Race Kit" you ask? This kit is assembled using the nickel plated Arero6 caliper with the fatter 20mm pads, in the proven Poly H compound. It also has Wilwood insulated Thermlock pistons for greater thermal barrier protection and comes with Dynamic Mount full floating hats/rotors.
Prod #: 140-13743-N

TCE is including our dedicated C5 or C6 ss flex lines and 2 bottles of Wilwood EXP fluid with each kit.

To help clear the shelves TCE is offering you this entire package for $2589 to the door. (US) That's the full front kit as noted above, ss flex hose kit and EXP fluid all to you by way of Brown.

If you've been looking for a track kit deal this may prove your one opportunity to score big on this sale.

Similar savings can be had on front and rear combo purchases also. Please inquire.

*All sales above by phone order. Ground UPS, US mainland only. Customer to verify wheel fitment. All sales final. No substitutions allowed.

Been quite a while since I passed through and shook things up a bit. Some UPDATES.

As Arizona's largest Dealer and one of the Nation's most experienced, TCE brings 25yrs of Wilwood knowledge and commitment to excellence to the table. As I've said before: I don't just sell it....I design and build it, I race it and I support it after the sale.

The shop business has exploded over the past ten years taking on a more "custom" nature. We remain Wilwood's first choice for referral work and come highly recommended by Jeggs, Speedway and Summit Racing. When they say no we don't have call TCE that means a lot. Not every request is a home run but many have led to repeated sales of mid 60s Caddys, Fiats, Older Buicks, a MB190 and even our own Mustang IRS rear kit with parking brake. If you can dream it we can probably build it.

Let's talk parts: TCE has a wall full of component parts to service your Wilwood calipers. Be them a year old or ten or more we can probably still get, or have, the parts needed to do you year end freshening. Pistons, Seal Kit, Pins, Clips, Bridge Bolt and Hat Bolt Kits, Bleeders, Fittings....and plenty of pad options with over 300 boxes in stock from two pot Dynalites to Six pot TX6 truck calipers, and of course all the popular Corvette parts: FNSL and Aero/W series calipers.

Check the SERVICE PARTS PAGE for your needs.

Bumped into a few Nebraska owners last weekend while visiting my Father In-law and took in some AX action out at Lincoln Airpark. Nice bunch of people.

From the Racing front Team TCE has completed the short but full season of CHCA hill climbs winning all four of our class races and setting a new record on the new Rangely course in NW Colorado. Along the way we managed a couple of top five overall finishes of 60-80 competitors beating more than a few 'big motor' cars. While all that was good we threw a rod at the last race making for terminal damage as well. *Despite that our first run held for the quick time, win and record!

Teen Driving Programs: being busy this year I managed but one event with Ford Driving Skills For Life. Folks: if you have a teen or a grandson/daughter please consider giving them the gift of driving. While the Ford program is FREE, consider any of them to be a good investment for your budding driver. Most require some 'wheel time' as the kids are put through more advanced exercises; skid control and accident avoidance. All good stuff so please; spread the word.

Continued PM, open discussion and private email or phone calls from all of you are greatly appreciated. Any questions please ask, that's what I'm here for.

Hi Todd, I have a 2013 C6 Grand Sport and am trying to decide between either the Red (1) Combo Aero6/FNSL4 4X With Parking Brake Front and Rear Kit Combo w/Hoses that uses the OEM rotors, or (2) Wilwood 14/14 FNSL6/4 4X Kit Front & Rear Kit Combo '05-'13 w/Hose that uses the Wilwood 2-piece slotted rotors. Is the parking brake option included with the 2nd option? I'm ready to make a purchase next month, and like the 25% savings on brake pads too.
