ZO6 gets owned at "The Ring"
We would like to announce very honoured that our homologated version of the Pagani Zonda F (602hp) has achieved the RECORD OF NÜRBURGRING 2005. Although the bad weather conditions (it was rather cold), the cold asphalt and the late hour ( 08.00 pm) the homologated version of the Zonda F achieved the record.
We are very happy and very satisfacted, because the conditions of the circuit were not so favourable.
You can find the incredible time in the German magazine "Sport Auto". (but this has not been published yet, and I don't know if Horst von Saurma was the driver)
http://www.vonbraun.se/ (where I got the news)
http://www.paganiautomobili.it/
The rumor says they did 7:32.5, so I'm not sure which record they broke?
A fraction faster than the Carrera GT, but not as fast as the tuned EDO or the Radical. On the other hand CGT and Pagani are stock and definetly road legal. The other two...well if they're are approved or not can be discussed. The radical is doing another attempt this week btw.
This gives you a good perspective over time.
Winners of Sport Auto Trophy:
1995 Gemballa Turbo 7.53
1997 Toyota Supra 7.47
1999 SHK Porsche 7.46
2001 Techart GT street 7.43
2001 Gemballa GT3 600 7.32.52
2004 Carrera GT 7.32.44
2004 Donkervoort 7.18.10
2005 EDO-Porsche 7.15.63
See you only have to spend 400K more to go faster, thats only 40K per second.

I found this:
price $741,000 USD
http://www.supercars.net/cars/3111.html
Thats over 10X the price...
And how about the production:
The Zonda F will be built in a new factory capable of producing 250 cars per year. 70 of these cars per year will be the first Paganis to officially be offered in the United States, though four prior Zondas were imported for racing. The company plans to complete full Federalization, including crash testing, before the introduction of the car in 2007.

Unless they mean Porsche 996 GT3 RS and accidentally wrote "Supra."

Howdy!
There was a Supra in the 7:4X's, but it was (as you suspected) a full tilt aftermarket car - I think put together by Trial/HKS: suspension, brakes, aftermarket turbo setup, etc.

Z06 is awesome..but if it were to be really compared to the Pagani, it just cant compare...
and btw isnt the C6R somewhere upwards of 1m and produced in a very very small number..that too when a lot is shared with the Z06 and vette...anyhow..the Vette would be a 500k car atleast and wouldnt be worth the money if it were produced in such limited number because it still wouldnt come to the fit and finish level of the pagani..
For gods sake you get matching shoes with your pagani made by the Pope's cobler..

You wouldn't be saying that if you saw one in real life.
Zonda puts any Ferrari or Lambo to shame.
Plus Carrera GT is butt ugly to boot.
The only car I'd take over Zonda is McLaren F1 LM, maybe Enzo....
