When installing the removable license plate frame the instructions state:
Step 8: Install the license plate and GM colored
frame using 1/4-20 x 3/8 stainless steel phillips
pan head screws (4 places) and split lock
washers (2 places) on the top two mounting
holes only (supplied with bracket kit)

I take that as use the lock washers only on the top 2 holes- top of plate and plate frame and use just 2 screws with no washers on the bottom 2 holes. Sound correct??
They supply 4 washers and 4 screws though.
Their install pics were taken 11 years ago and the resolution is terrible so when you zoom in to see the screws in the plate, it's too blurry to tell.

You are correct, do not use the lock washers on the two lower mounting holes g

Your website says the permanent mount version is for the C6.
But if I have a C6Z, and want a permanent mount, will this version work?
I don't want a removable one for my C6Z.

You would need to purchase the removable bracket, we do not sell a permanent bracket for the Z06

Now please educate me... why can't the Z06 use the permanent bracket?
Don't they both just mount up with the 3M tape to the underside of the
bumper opening ?

because the permanent bracket has a larger flange on top and the Z does not have enough depth, the bracket would stick out approx 1/2 inch

I have a top flight plate mounting bracket that is separating from the tape. It is secure on the vehicle side, but the bottom is loosing grip...sigh. I guess I could just permanently bolt it to the vehicle so it wont fly off.

Thanks, but at this point I don't think that would help with the other bracket attached to the vehicle. Just don't want to have to scrape the one off for fear it wont be a clean removal causing the next one not to adhere as well.

All you need is fishing line using a sawing motion to cut thru the adhesive, then use some "goo be gone" or some other adhesive remover available at all the local hardware stores, then use some mineral spirits to clean the area well and then wipe down the area with some alcohol
