Default 2007 or 2008?

I found a 2007 Z06 that I like for MSRP. Any reason to just order a 2008 and wait? Much difference between the 2? Was just getting ready to go buy it tonight but thought I would see what you guys thought!

Some will say try a search, the main thing that I've been told is the new tranny. I don't think there is anything wrong with the current one, so it is really up to you.

Others feel free to add.

I bought an 07'.

Decision factors for me:
  • The tranny in the 06'/'07 is just fine.
  • I read that the steering improvements for 08' didn't provide much real-world improvement.
  • I wanted MS and the new leather options for 08' didn't match that color.
  • I bought below MSRP.
  • Mostly, I wanted mine before the end of the summer (I live in Minneapolis).

If you're not in a rush (I see you're in CA) and your dealer will only 'deal' @ MSRP, I'd wait for an 08'. It can't hurt.

If you want it now and can find a more reasonable deal (at least $2500 off MSRP), then the 07' could be a better solution.

I was in the exact same situation as you 2 weeks ago. I would say if you were looking for a C6 coupe or C6 convertible and you didn't mind waiting, then get an '08 with the added HP.

As for the Z06, I bought mine and was glad I did. Your gonna pay a good deal more for the '08 Z06, and for what?

I've read about the new transmission as well, but have no complaints with mine at all. It shifts awesome and the car itself is just outstanding!

Either way, welcome.

If it's between an '07 at MSRP or an '08, I'd either wait for the new car or find an '07 that's discounted a few grand. There's absolutely no reason to pay MSRP for last year's model at this point in the game.

Agreed, you should be able to get 3-4k off sticker on an '07

I too was in the same situation. I bought my 07 about three weeks ago. I live in the Northeast and did not want to wait until Sept or so to get my car. No regrets here. Not too much different on the 08's. To me, it's all about 505 hp!

I found an 07 last week for $2,500.00 under MSRP and it's in my garage. Would not wait till the 08s come out and have to pay sticker or more.

Carl Jackson at Boardwalk (forum dealer) sells the 2008 Z06 @MSRP. Mine will be here in July.

Carl will not jerk you around. He promised MSRP verbally and in an email. I have no doubt that he will keep his commitment as he's done with many other forum members. There are no prices yet for 2008. All I cared about is MSRP. I'll pay whatever it is.

I wasn't questioning his word, I was curious if he was able to tell the price for the 08?

I count 449 07's still for sale. I figured msrp for 08 won't go up much if at all since the only major change is the new trans. The new interior upgrade is an option anyway. SO... I ordered my 08 Z from Tommy Jr. BELOW msrp. Only downside is waiting for delivery in the fall and not having my beast to drive this summer- but then in Houston we don't have to park our cars for the winter. Surely the 07's will have to be discounted much more in the coming weeks.
