Default Callaway Eibach Multi Pro Coilovers

Multi-Pro-Callaway

  • Eibach-Callaway Corvette Multi-Pro Coil-Overs:
  • A Joint development Between Eibach and Callaway
  • Lightweight Aluminum Construction
  • Utilizes 2.25" ERS coil spring in addition to stock
  • transverse leaf spring
  • Easy Ride-Height/Corner Weight Adjustability
  • 10-way Adjustable Independent Compression
  • and Rebound Damping
  • Stainless-Steel/Teflon Braided Reservoir Lines
  • Precise Spherical Upper Bushing Mount

For the ultimate in Corvette performance, Eibach and Callaway have teamed up to develop Multi-Pro Coil-Overs, specially tuned spring/damper units that let you extract the last ounce of cornering power from your Great American Sports Car. The Coil-Over design lets you precisely tune corner weights for optimum handling balance, and the wide range of damping adjustability lets you tune for comfort, ultimate grip, or anything in between.

This kit was specifically designed to eliminate the characteristic Corvette "kick" over bumps and deliver more stable, more predictable response at extreme cornering speeds. It´s perfect for Corvette Club racers or drivers who demand the high performance handling and legendary ride quality for which Eibach is famous.

Some thoughts about the suspension by Reeves Callaway

Multi-Pro suspension system, which was developed in conjunction with Eibach. Though the Multi-Pro setup retains the stock transverse leaf springs, it adds a Callaway/Eibach coilover shock assembly at each corner. The coilovers are installed in place of the stock dampers—instead using a plain shock tube, Multi-Pro incorporates a threaded damper tube with a light-duty coil spring wrapped around it. "The suspension that comes in the production automobile is a terrific compromise," Reeves explains. "The whole strategy of using a composite spring placed low in the car that never wears out, is very lightweight, is corrosion-proof, is silent, and isn't fighting for real estate with any other suspension component is a really good solution. The trouble is that serious enthusiasts like to have some control over the suspension. So, we left all of the standard componentry in place for all of the good reasons I just listed, plus we found a way to add a supplemental spring at each wheel that only accounts for the increase in spring rate over stock." Once that foundation was set, Callaway turned its attention to the dampers. "There are four or five companies that make great racing shocks," Reeves continues, "but most of them have no clue what it takes to make a road shock that lasts 100,000 miles." Eibach offered the needed durability in racing-style double-adjustable dampers with separate controls for bump and rebound. "We provide a suggested starting point at the middle of the range and let the owner adjust for specific road conditions from there."

Shocks --
They feature an aluminum shock body for reduced unsprung weight. I found the remote resevoir to be a huge benefit. One advantage of the remote resevoir is they are nitrogen charged. This allows you to run slightly less spring rate. Next the resevoir is located completely away from the main shock which allows the main shock to stay cooler. Finally the ease of use and various mounting locations. The rear cannisters are mouned in the rear wheel well in an accessable location with the car on the ground.

Durability--
These shocks are designed to go 100k miles without rebuilding.

Adjustability--
These shocks are independently adjustable low speed rebound and compression. The compression is on the cannister. The rebound is on the main shock body that you can access with a jack but still leave the wheel on the car. I can supply a basic shock tuning guide. There is a wealth of information on the web to help you. Also you are encouraged to make adjustments to your liking. Good thing the cannister is right under the hood.

Additional Springs --
We can select aftermarket springs rates based on your performance goals.

Bushings --
Spherical bushings will ensure when you are driving aggressively your coilovers won't bend from suspension deflection.

Every set is made to order and the shocks dyno'd.

On Sale now til the end of May. Retail price is $2995

DeCarbon vs Emulsion shocks
The design of the Callaway Eibach shocks are a deCarbon setup. To achieve this design Eibach creates a nitrogen charged cannister. Basically the nitrogen charge keeps the air out of the shock oil. In and emulsion shock the air can mix with the shock oil and it loses it's viscosity. Which leads to shock fade. Just like when you have air in the brake lines and get a long pedal you don't want the air mixing with the shock oil.

Adjustability
When you are on the street you are driving under low speed conditions relative to a street car. Well if you're at Road Atlanta you can take corners at over 130mph. During slow speed corners you want to load that outside tire and have the car take set. This is achieved by softer dampening settings. During high speed corners it's better to have more spring and dampening to keep the car planted. F=MA so when you're at a high rate of speed you need more compression dampening than when you're at slow speed.

Independent Rebound and Compression
Once you have the rebound set properly you really don't have to change the rebound since it's mostly a function of the spring rate. These settings are given to you in the Callaway Eibach instructions. Then while you're on the street you can lower the compression to give you better ride characteristics. Then at the track when you are in the high speed corners you can increase the dampening to give you a more planted feel during the high speed corners.

Also with this setup you can increase the spring rates depending on if your car is a track car or a street car. Obviously it's a compromise. The stock spring rates are a nice compromise for street and an occasional track day. However if you're trying to go 9/10ths you really need to increase the spring rates. This helps with roll control and giving you that planted feeling. Also most tracks are much smoother than the street so you can take advantage of the added spring rates.

With this setup you could even use the smaller helper spring for the street and then have a second set for the track that's as easy as changing the shocks (2hr swap). Utilizing the adjustable shocks you can have two setups, one for the street and one for the race track with Hoosiers.

You can achieve the balance you're looking for with the Callaway Eibach Coilovers and learn something about shocks and tuning your suspension along the way.

If you have any questions about the suspension please feel free to give me a call. 9162614000.

This is a truely incredible shock package. Featuring greater high speed compression dampening than any of the other shock packages.
