Rear Creak TSB?
Can anyone shed some light on this TSB? I have a creaking noise from the back area --could swear it is the hatch latch but the dealer's efforts have been unsuccessful. Saw this from a list of technical service bulletins someone just posted.
Thanks
Matthew

Is it a creak when you first start moving or hit a bump? I haven't had it in the C6 Z06 (yet), but the C5 did it all the time, and it turned out to be the rear sway bar, creaking in the bushings that attach it to the crossmemember (not the endlinks). Apply some bushing-safe lubricant to them, and see if that makes the noise go away, it worked for me.

Any info on the TSB?
I hear a loud creak/pop when I traverse a steep grade such as the entrance/exit to a driveway. Sounds like the hatch is shifting positions. Dealer first removed/messed around w/ the shims at the lock area. Then, replaced the rear hatch hinges. Still have the noise and it is annoying.
Anyone know what that TSB identified above concerns?

Just picked up my 09 and mine has it too. Found this thread which may be the issue.

I addressed this to C4C5specialist over at Corvette Mechanic and he stated this is no longer in GM's data base and is a non-issue.
I notice it when entering or exiting my driveway. I would hate to think that there is enough frame flex to cause the hatch to move around.
I'm going to try an experiment and leave the hatch open a slight amount and see if I still hear it. I'll report back with my findings.

In case anyone's interested, it doesn't creak with the hatch lifted.
It's hard to believe the frame flexes enough to allow this. Maybe one of the thick tunnel plates would cure this problem.

Found out mine is a rattle coming from right above the exhaust. There is a metal piece that holds the plastic away from the exhaust. The bolt holding this metal piece is not there on the left side but it is on the right. Going to stop by a dealership tomorrow and see if they have the bolt in stock. Hopefully this fixes the problem. I will take pics if anyone wants to see.

Melting Slicks
My 08 with 5K miles just started "creaking" from somewhere in the trunk area last week.
It does it quite often when backing out of the driveway, or just when I start to pull forward.
At first, I thought it was related to the 2 struts that support the hatch.
I still think the sound may be coming from there.
Tonight, I added dialectric silicone grease to the following areas:
1. The rubber boot that covers the electrical connection on the bottom of the hatch struts. They're kinda sqeeky if you twist them.
2. The seals around the perimeter of the hatch. I just recently cleaned these off....perhaps this was the issue?
3. The 4 rubber shoes that the hatch rests on.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow & Saturday, so, I may not drive it until Sunday.
I'll let you know then if this solved my problem.
I do have one more thought....
Whenever I have the top stored in back, it squeeks quite a bit.
I believe it's coming from the front plastic pylons that the top snaps into.
Those "pylons", for the lack of a better term, squeek loudly when I push on them or twist them with my hand.
I wasn't able to figure out how they come off - so, I wasn't able to mess with them.
Perhaps the creaking is originating at those points?
Just some ideas.
I'll keep you posted.

Burning Brakes
Mine has been doing it since I got it. I have removed the 2 shims and applied silicone to the seal where lid meets the car all the way around and it is much better but must re-apply once a month.

Drifting
I have the creak/pop only when I first start off. Been to the dealer once about it and they didn't help for crap.
I think it's probably the suspension bushings or the torque on the rear axle nuts.
