Default Bad Gas - Need to Siphon - Can I do it thorugh the fuel rail?

Hello -

I got all kinds of water in my gas. I tried to siphon it from the gas tank, but given the dual gas tanks, it does not work very well. The gas is so bad that the car does not even run remotely good.

Can I siphon it through the fuel rail?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

you should be able to find the shrader valve and pump the fuel out, but you'll likely have to cycle the ignition on/off about a million times to pump the fuel out. That is the way it was in the C5 era anyway.

Add lots of alcohol to the tank. There used to be Commercial branded 4 ounce cans available. I.E. "Heet".

Check a big autoparts store, they should have a product available.

Before all this ethanol was in the gas we use to use "gas line de-icer" what it was was lots of alcohol and this prevented gas line freeze. Try this and add to the tank with premium containing Ethenol. We use to be forced to use it in the winter months(Oct to apr) here in NY area but I think its in the gas all the time now. Good Luck

All you need to do is to disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail. Make a tube to attach to the factory fuel line to a hose so that you can drain into a gas can. Then go to the underhood fuse panel, locate the fuel pump relay, then make a jumper wire and jump the relay terminals 30 to 87. That will energize the fuel pump and it will pump the tanks dry. Just be very careful that you make a line that will fit into the factory fuel rail feeder line.

AKA "Dry Gas". Always used it when storing vehicles with gas in the tanks. It absorbs the moisture so it doesn't settle into a pool at the bottom of the tank.

Thanks for all the help everyone

I bought gas at a gas station and just got bad, watery gas. There was no tanker refilling the station holding tanks when I was there. The place just had a bad batch of gas I guess.

You can remove the shrader valve and hook up a hose and either jump the relay in the fuse box. Or you can even pressure the tank with a air hose and a rag. Stick a air hose in and seal it up most of the way and put some pressure in the tank and out she will come.
