Default Finally made it into the 10's!! 10.95 @ 127

I went to a rental at MIR on Monday (Dec. 7th) and finally hit the 10's bone stock. Unfortunately it wasn't on stock tires but it was a little too cold for that to happen due to the lack of traction. I made 5 or 6 passes on the GY runflats and was getting too much wheelspin on the shifts to have an 11.0x or 10.9x run. I did manage to clip off a 11.17 @ 127 with a 1.79 60 ft to bump my time up on the stock fast list before I put on Dr's for the first time. Jamie Furman was kind enough to bring his Dr's from home to let me use them. I've never run DR's before and it obviously made a difference with how the car hooked. My first pass ever with them on was a 11.02 with a 1.67 60 ft (the video I posted at the end)so I figured it would only get better. It took a little while to get used to them to where I got a little bit consistant. I had a best run of the day of 10.95 @ 127.22 with a 1.66 60ft!! After a couple 11.02's, 11.01, 11.04 and 11.08 it finally happened but only once. The launch is obviously different from stock tires so with a couple of days practice I think I could make a push for the bone stock Dr record but I don't think that will happen since my cars probably going to be sold pretty soon to save up for a bigger house.
I had a great time again and getting to watch the Lingenfelter zr1 be the first to get into the 9's and set a record pass of 9.81 @ 145 was sweet. ( I also got it on video and will be posting it sometime today.) It was fun watching the 5 zr1's and other cool cars that were there. it turned out to be another great day at the dragstrip and I'm glad I got to be there and meet/ see everyone else.
Here's the best video I got of the day of me
11.02 @ 127 1.67 60ft
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZeyJGMEuVw

I'll add the the other videos I posted on youtube from the day to this thread soon.

Congrats!!! Nice driving!!! I wish we would get some cold weather here in FL..... I would love to make an attempt at 10s on DR....
Of course I would need to get some DR.... and the weather is almost never truly cold enough.... so I guess it wont happen....

Thanks Frank. You just need to come up this way sometime!! Yes unfortunately it looks like I'm going to sell it. I got married a couple months ago and we're planning on having a kid(s) which means we'll need a bigger house. I need to save money to do that and having a "non essential" large expense like the z doesn't help with it. Things could change but as of right now thats the plan. I'll be back soon enough. A couple years from now I'm going to get me one of those fast 2006's .

These car's a stupid fast with or without DR's. But it does take a skilled driver to extrat all the "hidden" potential.

Good show.

Great performance! Making the tens is no easy feat, especially with a stock car. A good example is the 2003/4 Mustang Cobra; It takes 600 RWHP (17 lbs. boost) with slicks and skinnies to break into the tens.

Thanks Neil. It was nice to meet you too. You guys just didn't have a chance to better that 10.79 from the track not hooking from the cold. I know with my 505hp the shifts created too much wheelspin and watching what was happening with the ZR1's with that extra power you needeed DR's. I KNOW if some of you guys who can launch your car would have strapped on some DR's we would have seen a 10.6x and possibly a 10.5x. Mabey next time. Keep it up and you'll get it

Congrats. You are a very quick learner. DRs are a very different animal indeed. Great driving.

I am in the same boat!!! I got married for the 1st time 18 months ago and we are working on kids too. I was fortunate enough to have the Z06 nearly paid off or I might be in the same boat. I am looking at a DD now.... its going to be pretty simple. But the Z will be waiting for me in the garage at least...
Goodluck with everything!!!

10s is awesome!!!!! Specially in a slow '08....

You might have a shot at the 10.83 record with more practice...

Nice! What was the eighth mile ET and trap speed just out of curiosity?
