2006 Z06 Battery Recommendation
Silver Stealth is 4 years old and it is time to replace the battery.
What batteries fit? Optima and Interstate do not list batteries for the C6 Z06. What battery have you been successful fitting into the tiny rear corner pocket battery compartment?
Thanks.

I just installed a DL-47 Duralast Battery from Autozone. Physically, it is very close to the oem delco 90 6yr and went back in just fine. I did come across a snafu with the hold down strap that did not fit over the top by about a 1/2". I just made a new one at my shop out of some nylatron that I had leftover. Autozone is the only place that came up with a battery recommended for the 06Z that provided a hose for venting that easily coupled up with my existing hose. Dont forget the duct tape trick as it comes in very handy and remember to drink a glass of patience with this project as it can test yours getting the old one out. Good Luck.

I would have tried a red top but the store said they do not fit.
I am satisfied with the OEM and would do it over if I need to replace it a 3rd time.
Good luck with whatever you choose

Optima Red Tops
After two of them in my C5Z06, I can only recommend red tops as a two year battery. After that duration, they will not hold a charge for longer than one week. That may be OK for you and OK for the folks that can keep them on a battery tender 24/7, but it does not work for me.

So now I don't know. I know the OEM battery originally lasted me about 3 years. Battery is cheap in cost when you consider the car it is in. So I went with the OEM. I expect that the previous may have gone bad because I hardly drove the car, less then 1000 miles per year, and the battery died on me twice.
As far as battery tenders, I haven't gone that route. I figure, it only takes one time for that tender to fail and you could get an over charge, or worse yet, a blown computer.
The best way to keep a battery is to disconnect it if you store the car for long periods of time.
If you don't want to disconnect it then do this:
On my Mercedes SL500, which I hardly drive, I got and extra battery and just connected the batteries together. This assures that the battery in the car trickle charges and you have no chance of overcharge.
After a while, just disconnect it and charge the spare battery till it is full and connect it. This should be safe and keep your battery fully charged at all times without overcharge.

I actually have a carquest battery and haven't had any problems with it yet. Also it has a built in handle which is of course very helpful with instal and removal, especially in these cars. The tie down fits just like it should as well.

Best Battery
Odyssey PC1200. A bit smaller, fits easily, works with existing hold down and cables. Probably more expensive but very reliable. May have to order it online.

Sears Die Hard lists a battery for the Z06 which I bought almost two years ago. However, you will need a universal top strap and new hold-down tie rods about 1/2" longer than OEM if you buy the Die Hard listed battery.

Isn't there some requirement to "vent" any battery since it's physically inside the passenger cabin?
How are folks dealing with ventingf they don't use the OEM battery?

I have switched Optima batteries from car to car.
What is working for you? What battery are you using?
