LG MOtorsports ZR1 heading to Spectre 341 Virginia City Hill climb
Hi guys,
The car is on the way to Nv and we fly out to the SPECTRE 341 Challenge open road race in Virginia City Nv with the ZR1 tomorrow. http://www.spectre341challenge.com/
Looks like the Stillen Nissan twin turbo whatever will be hard to beat but we won't let that stop us.
At any rate, we are heading out with this car for the 5.2 mile open road race. The record is held by a Modified Ferrari F40 twin turbo.
We have upped the boost with pulleys, added our LG Super Pro Long Tube headers and put 18" wheels all around to get a better choice of tires. No race tires and no more than a 100 wear rating/ the stock ZR1 tires have a 220 wear rating.
Oh yeah, we put a new rear bumper on the car so we could add a wing without damaging the stock original bumper. Then added our own ZR1 front splitter with a bottom and then added an addtional splitter on to that.
We also built a custom Triple Disc Carbon Clutch with our own flywheel which removes a ton of rotating weight.
The race starts from 5000 ft and ends at 6200 ft. So I will be out of breath.
We will keep you posted.
Thanks
Lou Gigliotti

That road is the Pikes Peak of backroad racing. I have driven that road many times and it is a lot of fun, even at "normal" speeds. There are a ton of places that you do not want to go off though.
Good luck Lou. That car will be fun up there and I am sure you will give that pesky Nissan a run for it's money!

Lou, best of luck with the car. If looking good and preparation count for anything, you've got it made in the shade! We're behind you all the way!

Hi Guys,
Well the road is exactly what it is billed as. A very tricky mountain road without forgiveness.
The ZR1 showed up last night about midnight from Dallas. We will spend today making sure the car is ready for the challenge.
Spent about 4 hours on the track/highway going over each corner and driving the road in the rental car. No speeding because that will DQ anyone who gets a ticket on the road.
Today is registration and I plan on reviewing the track again in the rental car. putting the cruise on 34 mph works well for the 35mph speed limit.
I think the record will fall this weekend by more than one car. This should be a very interesting two days.
Thanks

LIFE CAUSES DEATH. We have been dying from the day we were born.
Street racing puts OTHERS at risk where this does not. no spectators on track and no other cars. So it is probably safer for OTHERS than a real race.
I have reached a ripe old age and raced for the last 40 years.
To me this is a proper challenge, while No one in their right mind would take a chance that was surly to cause injury to one's self, I think that this is right up my alley.
I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, and I DO RACING Oh, and I DON"T live in Chicago where the death rate is pretty high if you just walk down the street.
So, no worries. I will keep it on the asphalt.

Hi Guys,
They cut the day short today for various reasons. I only got 5 runs so far, with the first one just to have a look at the track for the first time at speed.
Best time 3:27.8 which is not bad for the first time seeing the track/highway. that time put us in the top 4 and ahead of Stillen (keep in mind that many of us have not seen the track )
We should get near 20 runs tomorrow. That should allow the ZR1 to do a little better. we lost quite a bit of hp in this altitude. Runs start at 5000 ft and end at 6200 ft.
See you at the races
Thanks
