[Z06] LS7 Coolant Temps with this HOT weather?

I'm the same way. My car does not see past 185* in traffic AC on in this Texas heat and she makes over 600rwhp. On the hwy, I see 176* and I too employ a 50/50 water and anti-feeze mix with water-wetter and a 160* Stat...everything else coolant component wise is stock.
Crease-Guard above can attest to this: he rode in my car last Saturday in traffic and Hwy, our temps were in the 104 to 105* that day. We noticed my coolant, oil temps and oil psi...he noticed how much cooler and with how much higher oil psi my car runs versus his.
I see this a lot, some cars simply run cooler than others even with very similar set ups.
Thanks,
Carlos

So I think Jason along with the rest of you guys hit it on the head, the heavy modied cars are running hotter. My guess is all of us hitting in the 220-230 range have uncoated Headers and you cool running dudes have the stock setup.
My Kooks headers thru enough heat to crack my painted engine cover. Had to paint new ones and add heat tape to the underside.
So if water boils at like 242 does the coolant raise the boiling point are perhaps lower it?

I guess Karlifornia heat has different effects.
We have 3 stock Zs in our club and all run 220+ F in 100+ deg. stop and go traffic. All have stock coolant which I assume is 50/50. I have one bottle of Water Wetter and it helped somewhat over stock.

I'm with 2K Cobra, I live in San Diego and see 220 all of the time in traffic, it was the same with my C5 Z and my 07 Z until we changed the fan setting, after that I rarely saw 190.

How hot is to hot? My fan locked up today, two of the bolts holding the fan motor to the shroud came out. The high temp warning came on the dic. I pulled into a parking lot and just as I opened the hood the cap started whistling and about 1/2 gallon of coolant was lost. I am running a vortech supercharger with intercooler and aftermarket radiator. I got the fan out and replaced the lost bolt. Everything seams to be working fine now. The dic showed 266 when I shut it off. I drove it about 25 miles tonight with temps around 90. It was showing 220 or less. Think I have anything to worry about?
Where can I get water wetter and how much do I need to put in?

Anyone have their cooling fan continue to run after they shut the car down? I have a stock 08Z and noticed that the cooling fan kept running after I parked the car yesterday. It was a hot day, 110ish, but the car wasn't overheating when I parked it and coolant level was full. Just wondering if this is normal.

When it's real hot outside my fan will run for a bit after I shut the car off.

i run a vararam here in vegas and in the summer time i saw a 30* increase over stock intake. it blocks the radiator and also remember our z's do not get air from underneath like the c6 only thru the grill. i do not drive the car in the summer anyway. the vararam is **** tho in the winter time sucking in chilled air i just purchased a wc hood so i will report if that disapates heat any
And it may be my imagination, but I would swear there is improved throttle response. Maybe because the Callaway has a larger surface area on the filter and the car was running cooler overall (not as much heat soak).

NONE 100% OEM, in fact running at Road America (4.2 mile road course with 14 turns and the two LONGEST straight aways in NA I never exceeded 235).
After over taking a GT-R on the LONG front straight - YIPEE that was fun, Interesting photo, looks like we are standing still yet we would have been pushing through 140MPH at that point. NA is the way to go.
Maybe stock has it's advantages.

I'm in North Texas where temps have been 101-104 with heat index to 110-114 everyday for past month, coupled with humidity is horrid....what little breeze there is burns your face....it's that bad....IN THE SHADE.....my '10 Z06 seems to get a lil bit warmer than my '09 Z51 Roadster did. I guess it's because of cube difference??? It got to 210 one day....so now I leave it in shop and drive my Yukon when it's so hot. I don't like my Vette baking in sun all day at work anyway....I plan to keep it a LONG time so I want to avoid the cumlative damage of this Texas HEAT/sun....VERY INTENSE and miserable....

MallettTodd: "Living in the Southwest and the Temps getting to 108 here in Oklahoma, whats normal for the LS7"?
Plano, TX, about 90 minutes ago:
Outside indicated temp 101-102, but I think my car reads a little high...
206-208 Heavy stop & go traffic, mostly stopped.
203 Lighter stop & go traffic, mostly moving
201 40 MPH steady roll
196 50 MPH steady roll

Has anyone ever considered pulling the black flexible rubber piece from underneath the front of the radiator? I installed a C6Z oil cooler in my H/C car and this piece came with the cooler. I installed it thinking there had to be a reason for it to come with it.
- Hwy temps I saw 190-192 cruising (70-80mph)
- Traffic in 100deg weather I saw 215-228 (a/c shut off)
- 174-176 cruising (70-80mph)
- 204-212 in 100 deg traffic (takes a very long time for temps to climb now where as before it would reach 220 in less than 5mins.
