2006 Z06 owners epsecially & all other years also, quick important question please.
Have owned my 2006 Z for just over a year know and put over 5000 miles on her and the car is AWESOME I absolutely LOVE IT!!
I have always noticed that when I romp on my Z, and take her up to 6500 rpm or so, and for a quick power blast, I pretty much always notice as soon as I'm done, a slight/moderate oder of what I believe to be exhaust or fuel (but probably exhaust). Allegedly, she has a stock tune in her and has CAI and currently Bullet Exhaust, and last year I was running the modified oem exhaust.
Car runs like a champ and never thrown a Check Engine Light.
Question: Do you stock 2006 Z guys and any other year stock Z owners (with stock exhaust or cat back system) pick up on any smell after ROMPING on your Z, either fuel, exhaust or anything else?
If yes, what smell are you picking up on with the exception of burnt rubber (that smell I know all day long)!

c6z. I also noticed this same smell on my c4zr1 and on my pontiac g8 gt with the 6 liter v8.
I almost think the smell is coming from the catalytic convertors.
One time when i was out jogging on the side walk a guy driving a viper jumped on the viper hard and I smelled the same thing

Jimmy, I have an 06z also but have not noticed any odor. My car has been put away for 4 1/2 months but I would rember if it did. My car has a killer b cia and exhaust mod on the stock mufflers. I will be getting my car out this weekend and will pay closer attention

Keep the replies coming guys I appreciate it!
Ok, so far about 25% of those who have responded are picking up on an exhaust smell and that is enough so far to tell me this is somewhat normal in some Zs.
I always said I had a keen sense of smell.

Hey Jim, I just got my car out tonight and romped it a half dozen times or so. First time i've takin it to redline since i bought it in december and yes I do notice and have noticed the smell you are referring to. Tonight it was a pretty strong smell in the garage even 10 min after turning the car off. The garage door was open too. I was wondering the same thing you are. It is like a combination of smells. Not just one thing you can put your finger on. My car is an 08, but like you said runs great and no problems.
