When you say you hope it's covered under warranty, I assume you mean Carmaxx's warranty? Who knows with that? But I would sure like the know the outcome if their warranty will cover a new motor.

When you bought the car, it had over 25K miles? You don't know how the car was treated for that first 25K miles. It could have been tracked and beat to chit. The Z is a potent car, but if it was abused for that first 25K miles, then you may have been on borrowed time.

Good luck. Let us know if your warranty covers the blown motor. If not, I won't ever purchase a Carrmaxx vehincle ever.

Bummer.

I'm sure you know this but the GM 5 yr/100K power train warranty didn't start until the 07. Good luck with the warranty claim w/CARMAX.

This is interesting. I will be curious to know the outcome. I have a 2006 with 13,000 miles. I bought it with 10,000 miles 4 months ago, and my slave cylinder failed. I bought a $1,500 extended warranty from "Fidelity", and they wouldn't cover the repair. Anything that has to do with the clutch, mechanical failure or not, they won't cover, BUT if my motor blows, they'll cover that all day long.

I do agree w you, the valve spring SHOULD NOT break on a low mileage car, but again, the previous owner could've been romping on it since new. Goodluck and keep up posted!

All most seems as though an aftermarket mild cam and springs kit may prevent some of these valvetrain issues.

Exactly. You were basically cruising, taking it easy, and bam. Same with me. I was cruising in 6th, and all the sudden my clutch fell to the floor and the car threw itself in neutral, and that was that...

Who are you going to sue, GM? You should sue Carmax for selling you a warranty for $3k when it only costs them $1k.

I'd like to see the look on the guy's face at Carmax when he finds out how much a new crate LS7 costs. Hopefully they will take care of you.
