[Z06] 2010 Z Check engine light on.

2010 Z Check engine light on.
Just took it out of the garage to get gas and noticed check engine light on.
Went got gas and came back Orange Engine light still on.
What do I do ?
Considering taking to Dealer. Will they give me trouble when they see my BeeHive and Halltech Killer Bee II ?
Maybe I should take it to AutoZone and have them read the codes and diagnoise the problem.
Any other suggestions !
Thanks
Willie

Get a scanner of your own or goto autozone and get it read before going to the dealer. Or find another friendly vette owner to scan it for you.

If you have OnStar, they can read it for you. My '09 Z has had it on for 2 weeks. Dealer turned it off twice before and said to come back if it returned. Said it was the cats or O2 sensor. I'm taking it in next week if I can get my new windshield installed by then. It rains and pours.

Check Engine Light
My '08 Z had the light being triggered by the Skip shift eliminator fuse.
Dealer mechanic said no worries, go have fun.....
Good luck.

If my memory serves, P171 and P174 are lean codes for banks 1 and 2. Which is probably caused by the intake. A tune should fix that right up. The dealer can clear it but as long as you have that intake on the car, your probably gonna have that code unless you get it tuned

Wait a second...didn't Halltech say those CAIs didn't need a tune??? (Yes this is sarcasm.)
You're lean because of that intake. First, check to see if you have any leaks. If so, fix it, then pull your negative cable from the battery for 15 minutes to reset LTFTs.
If no leaks, and you're still throwing the code, it's inherent to the CAI and only occurs at idle (fortunately). You need your MAF recalibrated. You could probably get away with not tuning it...but you're taking a risk. Find a tuner in your area, or if you get HPTuners, I'll send you one of my old bolt-ons only tunes to start with.
Good luck!

Hey Thats not Fair, I paid good money for that Halltech Killer Bee II and beehive.
Why would my car reject something I paid that much money for?
It's just not fair, if I tune my car to save my $500 KBII purchase, I lose my 5 year 100K mile warranty.
What's up with That. ?

Generally, the screws that tighten the MAF meter to the bridge must be tight or a leak there will cause lean codes.
Another possibility is the PCV line under the pass FR cover. It can come loose on some Z06s causing a leak.
It takes over 25% correction between the MAF estimated air and the O2 actual air to cause a lean code.
The only way that can occur is an actual vacuum leak.
We will replace your bridge, without a hitch if you want to return it under warranty if it is cracked or has a leak.
We pressure test every intake before shipment, but one may have had a crack near the MAF boss causing this condition.
Did I mention that the Killer Bee II does not need tuning? They come from the factory +4% to 5% unreported air.

I doubt that was your problem. do not clear the codes and put the stock aircleaner and intake back on, and take it to the dealer. its still relatively new and under warranty. get everything documented and fixed by the dealer.

One of the post states that the gas filler cap is a DIFFERENT code and Jim Hall post that, that code indicates a leak post MAF meter or at the MAF meter.
You should also know and understand that lean codes are NOT good. It can cause "fatal" engine damage. While I'm certainly no expert, I've learned that just by reading here on THIS forum.
I would take the time and investigate the issue properly. If it's what is suggested in this post the code will likely return.
