Default MPSC equiped ZR1 takes back the 'Ring crown

Sporting the new MPSC tire, a 2012 C6 Z06 ZR1 takes back the crown as the fastest regular production car record around the Nurburgring at 7:19.63

Maybe they'll take a new 2012 Z07 Z06 with the MPSC around the "ring as well to see what it'll do.

Congrats Team Corvette !!!!!

I'm having a ball with these results... All my GTR loving friends are trying their best to say that the GTR did the 7:24 in wet ... the video I see with the GTR doing 7:24 seems dry..

2009 last tested did not have PTM, the only improved "aero" is the full length racing spoiler.

The 2012 "performance package" for the ZR1 includes the new lighter wheel, the Cup Sport tires, close ratio trans and the full length racing spoiler (same as the Fellows Z06)

Actually no.....the GTR fanboys are the young kids that don't own any cars and just talk smack online.

The actual GTR owners are for the most part a really cool crowd. A lot of them are really mature and own other cars like Vettes, Vipers and Porsche's. Here's what some of them were saying on NAGTROC in regards to this Video:

"Fantastic lap. GT-R can't touch that. Kudos to GM.

Now if Michelin would make a custom tuned version of the Pilot Sport Cup tire like they have for the ZR1 and the GT2 RS, the new 2012 might shave off more than a couple of seconds from its 7:24 lap time. But another 5 seconds? Maybe, maybe not."

"Impressive time regardless of the tires and nice they produced a video."

"Very good point. I didn't want to start a war on this. I love all cars and absolutely love my new GT-R. I just don't need to be reminded that nothing is covered. You have to pay to play and I realize that. I would love to own a white ZR-1 with all of the above said."

"My god i was scared for him at some or those speeds!!! that thing was flying

I would bet that Nissan spent a LOT more time at the 'Ring with the GT-R than Chevy did with the ZR-1. Just educated speculation but if true I would not be surprised."

Most of them are a lot more mature than some of the guys on this forum, that's for sure.

Congratulations to the bow tie boys.

Remember also, this was done without paddle shifters that some of the other cars have (like the GTR)

So, now we know. The fastest production sedan is the Cadillac CTS-V and the fastest production sports car is the Corvette ZR-1. Only General Motors has done that. Not Ferrari or Mercedes or McLaren or anyone else has ever been able to say that. Period.
