HPDE tires ??
Need some opinions on a tire choice.....What are you guys running in HPDE/road course setups ??
I have a question about a wheel and tire setup for HPDE's ?? Which combination would yeild better results and please explain ??
1) Factory original C4 ZR1 17x9.5 w/295-35-17 Hoosier R6 & 17x11 w/335-35-17 Hoosier R6.
2) Factory original C6 ZO6 Speedlines 18x9.5 w/295-30-18 Hoosier R6 & 19x12 w/345-30-19 Hoosier R6.
Or anyother combo you guys are running....even the bling..bling setups.
Here is some info on the track I attend; track has 10 turns in 1.8 miles (2.9 km), and over 80 feet (24 m) of elevation change. The track can also be configured to run both clockwise and counter-clockwise, yielding two distinct race courses.
And of course pics would be killer !!
Thanks........

They are going on a C5 ZO6 but......not sure what kind of detail your after so.....it a '04 ZO6 with the L5 rear quarters, 500+rwhp@2860lbs. I do a little of everything with the car. Lots of racing in Mexico and at the strip but I attend a couple of HPDE events a year and with the new addition of L5 quarters I was looking for some C6 ZO6 wheel and tire options. With the L5's it basically gives me the same fender dimensions as a C6 ZO6.....and thats why I'm here .
I'll post a few pics of what I'm taking about in a minute...Damn, imageshack is not working with me .
Thanks...

Personally I would look for some 18s all around. Thats what I I did. For HPDE I run my stock fronts which are 18x9.5 with some 295/35/18 R6s and in the rear I found some replicas that are 18x12 and run a 345/30/18 R6. More grip than I'll ever need.
If you decide to go bigger brakes they are great for that reason. If you don't then stick with the 17s. Personally I would go with the 18 setup because with that much power you will want some bigger brakes even if they are just the stock C6Z brakes with better pads/fluid/lines.

Here is what they look like with 18 w/275 & 19 w/345 combo;
And here they are with 19/20 combo, which I'm not interested in...at all. Just wanted to show the room and a different angle.
The factory C6Z wheels fit with no problem so...I heard ya on the 18x12's but the ones I've ran across (ZO6 split spoke) are heavy as S**T !! Like in the 28-30lb range and thats unaccepable. Factory 19x12 are in the 23-25lb range and the C4 ZR1's are in the 21-23lbs range.
So.....I understand that $$ talks but since this is just a track set its hard to drop big dollars on this. Like to keep it under the $2K mark, with tires.
Do really think either of the first combo's would be that bad ?? Just remember "its just for fun" .
Thanks..........

Haha..haha...Don't get me started on that topic. I like the C6 ZO6....power is easy to make so I chose the body style I liked the best, C5 ZO6. And not a fan of the BIG back glass. But that my opinion, if I keep it up I'm going to get my a** kicked for talking s**t in the C6 ZO6 section !!
Thanks.........

Well in that case if you aren't going to up the brakes then go with the C4 ZR1 wheels. Seems like the winning combination.

19" tires are too expensive to replace and few ppl use 19" so scrubs are non existent
18" all around Dont really go wider the 335s. 345s may take an extra lap to get heat into.
The Ideal Set up is 18x10 or 18x11 with 18x315/35 on all fours. But some ppl freak out with the great handling of a square set up.
