Default ZR1 Splitter + Rockers, but no spoiler?

Anyone have a Z w/ ZR1 Splitters and Side Rockers, but without the full length spoiler? How do you like it? Would like to see pics, Victory Red especially.

I'm not 100% convinced on any appearance mods just yet, but I do like the front spoiler and rocker, but not so sure how I feel about the full length spoiler. On a my bright red car, I think the matte black OEM lip spoiler offers great contrast that'll be lost if I go painted full length (black full length doesn't look so great to me).

But without that larger spoiler, I'm wondering if the car will look 'unbalanced'.

Thanks in advance.

I think this is what you are looking for. Not Victory Red but close.

From an strictly aero standpoint the car might be unbalanced at speed.

Thanks TORQJNKY, that is exactly what I'm looking for. If that's your car, I'd love to see more pictures if you have them.

bluemagoo, I was wondering about that as well. I would like the car to be stable at higher speeds, so this may be a non-starter if that is the case. Does anyone have any first hand experience that not installing the full width spoiler while installing the rest of the aero bits have caused instability?

Not my firsthand experience but Katech would be well qualified to shed some light on your question: http://www.katechengines.com/street_...a%20report.pdf

Yes, it's my car. I've not driven at high speeds for very long only up to around 140mph for a short burst on occasion with no problems. I do plan to put a ZR1 spoiler on eventually, I just can't decide between body color or carbon fiber to match the splitter and side skirts.

Ah, I see. The ZR1 spoiler isn't bad, I just like the contrast the Z06 lip spoiler provides.

Do you have any more pics? I'd love to see your car all sorts of angles.

On the street you won't have any issues under 80-100 MPH. On the track the front will stick and the back will be lose or you will have oversteer. The Katech package is a balanced one.

I have since added the painted ZR1 spoiler though.

Thank you for the pics.

One thing I didn't realize is that the full width spoiler is different from the ZR1 spoiler. I always thought they were the same! When looking at Z06s, the full width spoiler never looked right to me, so I just assumed they were the same and never really looked at the ZR1s.

Even though I like the contrast of the unpainted OEM lip, I think the ZR1 spoiler may do the trick. Since you got yours installed, do you have any more pictures to share? I realize I can probably just look up a ZR1, but it may be nicer to just see how it looks on the Z as the fenders and hood are different.

Thank you both! Very nice looking cars. This will give me a much better idea of what I'll be working with if I move forward.

Jim
Hi Jim, I know katech have a very well balanced kit, but we would try to see why the car that have 70% more lift in the front than in the rear in stock form, than adding a splitter only could possibly glue the front and get the rear loose ?

Are you talking about high speed turn ? Some high speed turn could be corrected with stiffer front sway bar to help to balance with some oversteer. At some point I bet the oversteer in high speed turn should also be corrected by a bigger rear spoiler, no doubt of that. The goal for me is to get less lift in the front nose for high speed run and a little more safe feeling . The front splitter alone could provide that? Are thise mods alone could lead to unbalance the car (who are already unbalanced in my humble opinion) and get the rear end twitchy at high speed because the the front lift are less ?

Later,
Seb
